Summary

The Regulatory & Technical Affairs Specialist will be responsible for providing support in US and Canadian regulatory affairs, relevant industry codes of practice, maintain ingredient listing, nutrition labelling, packaging label artwork approval, conduct annual label review and provide technical regulatory updates to senior management.

Key Activities

  • Develop, organize, and maintain product specification, for new and existing products in compliance with Canadian, U.S., and other international regulations, including ingredient declarations, allergen statements, nutrition facts, product claims.
  • Provide support in US and Canadian regulatory affairs, kept informed of changes related to relevant legislation, scientific and technical developments, and relevant industry codes of practice.
  • Review and approve packaging label artwork and conduct annual label review.
  • Provide technical regulatory updates to senior management.
  • Provides technical leadership to assure that the manufacturing process and environment do not pose a risk to produce safe quality food products.
  • Respond to regulatory compliance related questions and general labelling information, involving existing, new and reformulated products.
  • Review and approve product claims on labels; (Non-GMO Project Verified, RSPO, Allergen, Gluten Free, Organic)
  • Conduct nutritional analyses in the development of new and reformulated products.
  • Other duties as assigned by QA Manager
  • Assist in maintaining and updating new product sample submission, records of product design, process development, review recipes against other standards for accuracy.
  • Maintain and update customer product specification web-based portals.
  • Review, evaluate new ingredients and approve the legality of any claims regarding existing, new and/or reformulated products.

Preferred Skills

  • Working knowledge of Health Canada and US Federal Food & Drug Administration regulations other international food labelling regulations
  • Certificate in Food Labelling, Regulatory Affairs, or Food Law
  • Proficient in computer literacy e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
  • Excellent organizational skills, dependable, able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines, attention detail.

Educations & Experience

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a Regulatory Affairs role
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition, Food Science, or other relevant scientific discipline
  • Knowledge of ESHA Genesis nutrition software program is a must
