Look Beauty is looking for a Regulatory Affairs Specialist who loves skincare and beauty. You'll work with a hands on, collaborative, and cross departmental team that goes above and beyond to support our customer experience and our brand Masque Bar. As a growing business, we need people that can adapt and evolve to the needs of our business, analyze and interpret metrics and translate strategy into behaviours which drive sales and improve profit.
Our office is located in downtown Toronto, and although this is a hybrid position, the candidate may be required to go into the office on occasion.
Qualifications
Mandatory Qualifications Include:
- A minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience, not including internships
Other Qualifications:
- Excellent organizational skills, dependable, able to multi-task and meet multiple deadlines
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate (verbal and written) effectively
- Maintain current knowledge of HC, FDA, and other international regulations and documentation requirements.
- Proficient in computer literacy e.g., MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
- Excellent attention to detail, able to prioritize tasks and follow-up
- Able to take direction, dependable, work well with others as well as independently
- Experience in the Beauty industry / CPG Industry is a strong asset
- A bachelor’s degree
Duties and responsibilities
Tasks include but are not limited to:
Regulatory Compliance:
- Maintain knowledge of regulatory changes
- Maintain WERCS,PURVIEW portals for all items going into the US especially Target.
- Getting products approved through regulatory- This includes: US/CANADA/UK/EU
- Provide documentation and verbiage for approval: Artwork, initial formulas, etc…
- Interact directly at times with clients to provide regulatory guidance.
- Advise on the appropriate strategic approach for obtaining regulatory approvals
- Keep up to date with the changing regulatory information from a global perspective.
- Perform revisions as necessary: Verbiage, Artwork (provide direction to art department)
- Work with 3rd party translation services as needed to ensure accurate multi-language product packaging
- Basic knowledge of US, Canada, US/UK cosmetic regulatory environment.
Sustainability:
- Work closely with factories to ensure that all new and existing products are sustainable (biodegradable/compostable/recyclable/made from recycled material.)
- Update all packaging with new logos/symbols as the new regulations come along for sustainable packaging.
- Constantly look for ways to drive the company and products towards the sustainability goal.
- Look for alternative ways and new technology to ensure the products adhere to different retailers sustainability requirement.
New Product Development (Branded & Private Label):
- Develop new products with the team and conduct marketing research to stay on top of trends
- Maintain contact with factories about the following:
Documentation - MSDS, IFRA, Ingredients, Allergen declaration, etc…
- Any adjustments of formulas, requests for samples, etc…
- Write copy for new launches, in addition, revise older copy as needed and required either through requirements (e.g. FDA) or for marketing purposes (e.g. rebrand)
- Adhere to new product production schedule. This includes: Ensuring that regulatory and artwork are completed on time.
Work closely with the Logistics to ensure the most updated inventory is available in the warehouses.
- Attending webinars and conferences virtually to ensure up to date with new market trends and regulatory/ compliance.
- Maintain the Master UPC sheet with details of all existing and new products.
- Work on ensuring all formulas adhere to the clean checklist for all big retailers especially: Walmart, Target, Shoppers drug mart etc.
- Ability to multitask and manage multiple deadlines at once. Has extreme attention to detail.
Marketing:
- Contribute as a member of the marketing team in new product development
- Collaborate with in-house designer and sales team to provide marketing support
- Contribute in copies and verbiage for brand presentation for existing and new products
- Play a key role in the development of marketing plans for our brands.
