The majority Indigenous-owned company provides camp and support services for remote workforce housing projects. Description:


Wicehtowak Frontec Services is seeking a Recreation Coordinator to join our team in Jansen, SK. The Recreation Coordinator is a dynamic role that is responsible for scheduling and organizing activities within the camp, monitoring large events and conducting fitness and hobby classes.


Where We Work and Live:


The Jansen Discovery Lodge is a workforce housing facility in support of the BHP Jansen potash mine. The camp is located 155 kilometers east of Saskatoon, SK.


This position works a 14 day on, 7 days off rotation. Accommodations and meals during your work rotations are provided by the company.


Responsibilities:


  • Prepare event and program reports upon completion of the recreation activity. This will give feedback on the continuing of specific programs
  • Offer guidance and support that will encourage independence and assist residence in achieving their personal goals
  • To prepare and promote recreation activities to all residents living in camp
  • Assist and implement with all special events like dart night, pool nights, football, hockey etc.
  • Plan, organize, and implement recreational programs in the lodge; including but not limited to summer programs, fitness programs, community healthy living programs, like bingo, karaoke, paint night etc. as outlined by Supervisor
  • Maintain supply for recreation activities
  • Ensure opportunity for a variety of person-centered recreational activities.
  • Develop, recommend, and implement recreation programming based on policies and procedures
  • Listen and respond to team member/service needs within organizational guidelines
  • When required, be involved in on-the-job training and/or orientation
  • Coordinate any facility bookings or rentals for programs and special events
  • Encourage positive and socially appropriate behavior, and effectively manage challenging behavior
  • Support individuals on a 1:1 basis or in small groups, to participate in community-based programs such as recreation / carts and craft nights, volunteer work, fitness and leisure, recreation activities, community events, etc.
  • Carry out and promote positive routines/duties/activities in a cooperative, respectful, and flexible manner, which are meaningful and enjoyable for each team member
  • Complete appropriate documentation and attendance of recreation activities provided


Qualifications:


  • CPR and First Aid certification required
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, be able to prioritize and plan activities to use time efficiently
  • Physical ability to carry out duties
  • Post-secondary education in Recreational Therapy, Community Recreation or similar is considered an asset
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in recreational programming
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients.
