Project Structural Engineer

Delve Underground has an immediate opening for a Project Structural Engineer to join our Vancouver Office team. This position focuses primarily on delivering tunnel and underground infrastructure projects. We are seeking a Structural Engineer with 4+ years of experience to work with our team on a wide range of projects.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in the design of the challenging heavy civil projects located in Vancouver, and Western Canada. This position offers a great opportunity for a motivated, detail oriented, team-centric engineer to work on large scale transit, rail, highway, water, and wastewater projects.

Candidates should have a passion for taking on new and challenging tasks and have a solid understanding of engineering principals. Previous underground experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate between multiple disciplines to ensure a fully integrated design (architects, geotechs etc.).
• Perform field reviews of tunnels and underground structures and prepare field reports.
• Must be willing to travel in the Lower Mainland to project sites and to work on a combination of construction site and office work.
• Manage the design process and provide support to project managers and design engineers.
• Perform data analysis and calculations and prepare engineering reports.
• Direct the Design Technology Specialists (drafters) and other members of the drawing production team on the proper depiction of designs in plan, section, and detail.
• Prepare technical specifications.
• Prepare structural designs for tunnel linings, underground concrete structures and/or support of excavation.
• Review contractor submittals.
• Track design progress versus timelines and budgets.

Qualifications

• Four to eight years of design experience in structural engineering, preferably in heavy civil applications.
• Registered Professional Engineer (PEng) license in BC/AB, preferred.
• Class 5 (or equivalent) driver's license
• Strong personal organizational, technical writing, and time management skills as well as the ability to prioritize to meet deadlines.
