Job Description

Nelson River Construction (NRC) is currently hiring a full time Project Manager for our Asphalt Division.


NRC is a leading heavy construction contractor in Winnipeg, MB, operating inter-provincially with expertise in many areas of heavy construction including: Concrete paving, Asphalt paving, Aggregate processing and Underground services. We focus on providing a supportive work environment that exceeds expectations and continually improves the quality of everything we do.


The Position:


The Project Manager will be a self-motivated, detail-oriented person who has a strong work ethics, works well in a team environment, and can perform responsibly under tight deadlines.


Responsibilities:


  • Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, subcontractors and suppliers on changes and adjustments to contracts
  • Manage and direct construction projects from pre-award to Total Performance
  • Manage shop drawings and purchase orders in support of the procurement process
  • Collaborate with Managers, Superintendents, and key stakeholders throughout project
  • Calculate costs and prepare estimates for construction projects
  • Identify and manage opportunities and risk related to each project
  • Verify progress billings from owners, subcontractors, and suppliers
  • Plan, organize, manage, and monitor project costs and estimates to completion
  • Execute projects in conformance with specifications, drawings, and addenda
  • Build and manage relationships with new and existing clients, suppliers and subcontractors


Qualifications:


  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management, and organizational skills
  • Valid Class 5 License
  • Self-motivated with strong ability to prioritize and multi-task in a fast-paced environment
  • Diploma or Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management and/or 10+ years of progressive field experience, with mentoring and leadership skills preferred
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and a passion for timeliness and productivity
  • Strong mathematical and computer skills with experience in Microsoft Office Suite, B2W, and/or equivalent programs would be an asset
