Job Description
Academic Full-time Position
(First consideration for Support Staff and Academic positions will be given to internal applicants in accordance with the respective Collective Agreements)

Responsibilities
The
  • Participating in department, portfolio/school and college-wide activities/task groups as required
  • Designing, updating, and delivering a variety of courses including project courses
  • Creating and maintaining a positive learning environment that supports the diversity of students’ cultures, educational backgrounds and learning styles
  • Support applied research activities including the identification and selection of potential projects
  • Developing alternative delivery strategies, online course development, and teaching as required
  • Development of industry partnerships and collaboration with industry partners
  • Ensuring program and course curriculum are current, relevant, and reflective of best practices in the field
  • Defining, evaluating, and validating program and course learning outcomes
  • Working in a collaborative, collegial manner both within the department and across the college
  • Fulfilling responsibilities as defined in the Academic Employees Collective Agreement
  • Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and evaluating student progress and achievement
Qualifications
  • Strong advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion in recreation
  • Previous experience facilitating adult learning through teaching at a post-secondary level, delivering workshops and/or seminars related to Recreation and Leisure Services considered an asset
  • Minimum of five years of current and progressive experience demonstrating a commitment to recreation, sport administration, sport management and or healthy lifestyles is required
  • Experience with curriculum development is preferred
  • Teaching experience using a variety of modes of delivery (video, web-based, etc.) and methodologies (asset)
  • Knowledge and experience of computer systems (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite) and educational technologies (e.g. D2L) is preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of an academic team
  • Background in Recreation, Kinesiology, Social Sciences, or Sciences field considered an asset
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to learners and provide a positive learning environment to students working at different skill levels including international students and students requiring accommodation is an asset
  • Strong relationships with industry contacts and network connections are considered an asset
  • Demonstrated exceptional presentation, communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Master’s Degree in Recreation, Sport Administration or Sport Management or related discipline combined with undergraduate Degree/Diploma specific to Recreation, Sports Administration or Sport Management
  • Strong commitment to academic excellence, student success, and ability to support Conestoga’s continuous quality improvement initiatives
Successful applicants will commence employment in August 2023. The vacation period for this position will be scheduled during the Spring semester.
