About Potash
BHP’s Jansen Potash Project located approximately 140 km east of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan is BHP’s first and most advanced potash project. Jansen will add diversity and a Canadian presence to BHP’s global portfolio. Jansen’s large resource endowment provides the opportunity to develop it in stages, with anticipated initial capacity of 4.35 Mtpa. The BHP Board has recently sanctioned Jansen Project (Stage 1), with a US $5.7 billion investment. The project is now entering the construction phase, with the first potash expected in 2027.
Purpose

BHP is looking for a talented Principal Business Planning to contribute to the leadership and safe/efficient delivery of the Strategy and Corporate Alignment Planning (CAP) processes for BHP’s potash commodity in line with BHP standards and requirements. They lead medium and long-term planning, integrating functional, business, and project objectives and strategies into a single asset plan, with clear short-term priorities.
About The Role
In this role, you will:
  • Collaborate in the development of scorecard and performance metrics for Potash
  • Support sustainability planning for Potash
  • Monitor the external environment and analyses the impact of changes on short, medium and long term plans to identify risks and opportunities to enhance delivery
  • Adapt the internal business planning processes for the Jansen Operation and Potash Projects Portfolio across many stakeholders as the business grows
  • Lead discussions and presentations on the CAP process and outputs to build internal stakeholder understanding and buy-in
  • Implement effective project management routines to enable effective delivery of CAP process by key contributors
  • Maintain key connections within the business to support customer needs and outcomes
  • Lead the execution of the end-to-end CAP process for Potash to develop plans, targets and budgets, integrating inputs from across the business
  • Establish routines with other functions, operations and regions based on an understanding of key integration points to enable regular collaboration for enhanced outcomes
  • Facilitate the development of practical and realistic internal growth options for BHP Potash through effective stakeholder management across the business
Work Location
Downtown, Saskatoon office. 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
About You
  • Demonstrates creative thinking, pursuing new and unique approaches to tackling challenges
  • Superior interpersonal skills to engage, influence and build solid working relationships with stakeholders across the organization
  • Skilled with developing and communicating strategies and complex messages to leadership
  • Proven experience in medium to long-term planning is an asset
  • Technical or business related post-secondary diploma
  • Possesses an understanding of end-to-end business value chain for mineral extraction and the associated key value drivers
  • Embraces an attitude as a self-starter, with an eye for detail and agility to change
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to express details and facts in a confident and articulate manner
