Job Description
Overview Of Role


The Pilot, Innovation and Excellence (PIE) department at Alvotech is responsible for generating material and testing new technologies for Development departments enabling Alvotech to be an industry leader in Biosimilar development and manufacturing.


As a Scientist in Pilot (PIE) you will be part of a team that is responsible for the running of large scale (250L) nonclinical batches, experiments and other support activities. A normal workday will consist of experimental tasks, including, but not limited to, Pilot upstream (USP) and downstream (DSP), batch processing, solution/media preparation and innovation experimental activities.


Furthermore, you will be responsible for execution of experiments including data collection, analysis and reporting. Problem solving, critical thinking and a technical mindset is essential for working in PIE.


All work-related activities (meetings, discussions, reports, and protocols etc) at Alvotech are conducted in English.


Scope and responsibility:


  • Prepare medium / solutions.
  • Execute Pilot experiments (cell culture, harvest, purification) in an accurate way.
  • Contribute to ensure the work area and equipment is maintained in an orderly fashion.
  • Ensure data capture is accurate and complete in line with Good Documentation Practices (GDP).
  • Willing to participate in a rotation schedule for weekend work.
  • With supervision, write appropriate experimental plans and reports.


Job requirements:


  • Get your thoughts, ideas, and knowledge across in a constructive way.
  • Flexible and can work accurately, both in a team and individually.
  • Enjoy hands-on laboratory work
  • Degree in life science, biotechnology, or related subject.
  • Although not a requirement, experience in a biotechnology or biopharmaceutical industry environment (this can be part of internship, Bachelors or Masters lab based project) would be beneficial.
  • Demonstrate the ability to understand technical information and translate to practical tasks.
  • Working to a plan to allow you to maintain an overview of the necessary work and ensure you meet deadlines whilst also having the ability to work with flexibility in a changing and demanding environment
  • Positive attitude with a keen desire to learn and progress within the team, company and industry.
