Pharmacy Assistant/Delivery Driver

• Neighbourly Pharmacy* is looking for a *Pharmacy Assistant/Delivery Driver *to join our *Meadow Lake, SK* location at *Madill’s Drugs*.

Reporting to the Store Operator/Pharmacy Manager, and under the supervision of a pharmacist, this role is responsible for performing specific dispensing functions as outlined by provincial regulations and standards of practice. The Pharmacy Assistant/Delivery Driver is responsible for completing local deliveries in Meadow Lake and weekly deliveries of medications and medical supplies to our customers in Waterhen Lake. They are responsible for maintaining the safety and security of the cargo. This position also requires the candidate to lift and maneuver large packages. Must be able to lift 50 pounds and heavy boxes. Work well under pressure and take directions well, but also be able to work alone in an organized way.

• 8 hours per week.
• The usual shifts will fall on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9:00 am to 6:00 pm.

Responsibilities
*Delivery*

• Complete all pickup and deliveries. Maintain daily reporting as required.
• Complete proper delivery documentation. Ensure delivery slips are signed and submitted.

*Dispensing*
The pharmacy assistant must be always under the supervision of a pharmacist. All dispensing functions performed by a pharmacy assistant must be carried out following provincial regulations and standards of practice.

• Attach the label to the prescription container.
• Locate the medication, select the prescription container, and count/pour the medication.
• Regularly phone customers for unclaimed prescriptions.
• Receive a written prescription from customers.
• Ensure that the original container, prescription container contents, and label are checked and initialled by the pharmacist.

*Pharmacy Operations*
Perform other tasks as outlined by the pharmacy manager or staff pharmacists. To include:

• Maintain OTC/non-prescription sections, as designated.
• Keep all areas of the pharmacy clean, neat, and professional.
• Assist with inventory control.
• Assist with third-party billing.
• Set up a schedule for outdated pharmaceuticals.
• Maintain adequate stock of pharmacy supplies.
• All doctors’ calls and inquiries regarding prescriptions, copies, drug information, and poisons must be referred to a pharmacist.
• Assist with checking off and putting away pharmaceutical orders.
• Answer the pharmacy telephone, except for the doctor’s line, which should be answered by a pharmacist.
• Maintain stocks of pamphlets/consumer information.

Qualifications & Skills

• Preference will be given to those who have retail Pharmacy experience.
• Able to work independently and have experience multi-tasking.
• Eligible candidates must provide a driver abstract dated within the last 30 days.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Professional attitude and ability to communicate well with customers and co-workers.
• Candidates must possess a valid and permanent provincial driver's licence.
• Kroll experience is an asset.
