Job Description
IScope Concussion & Pain Clinics is a specialized treatment and assessment centre offering a range of services and treatments with several locations across Canada. Our clinics use a variety of diagnostic tools to identify the root cause of a patient’s pain. Our team of highly skilled Physicians and Allied Health Professionals work together and provide a personalized treatment plan so our patients can feel better sooner. Our Beautiful British Columbia locations are seeking highly skilled and compassionate Occupational Therapists to join our team.


JOB SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Lead Occupational Therapist, the Occupational Therapist (OT) assesses, develops, and implements individual and group treatment programs to ensure optimum patient care for assigned caseload. The OT coordinates patients' treatment programs with referring physicians and other medical professionals.


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:


  • Collaborating with other healthcare professionals: The OT will work closely with other healthcare professionals, such as physicians and physical therapists, to ensure that patients receive comprehensive care.
  • Maintaining records: The OT will maintain accurate and up-to-date records of patient treatment and progress, as well as other administrative tasks as needed.
  • Creating treatment plans: Based on the evaluation, the OT will develop a customized treatment plan that includes specific goals and interventions to help the patient achieve their desired level of functioning.
  • Educating patients and their families: The OT will provide education to patients and their families on how to manage their condition, maximize their independence, and prevent future injury or disability.
  • Documenting patient progress: The OT will document patient progress, including improvements, setbacks, and changes to treatment plans, to ensure that treatment remains effective and appropriate.
  • Managing caseload: The OT will manage a caseload of patients, ensuring that they receive the appropriate level of care and attention.
  • Conducting patient evaluations: The OT will conduct initial patient evaluations to determine the patient's functional abilities, limitations, and goals.
  • Providing therapy: The OT will provide therapy sessions to patients, which may include exercises, activities, and modifications to the patient's environment to improve their ability to perform daily tasks.


QUALIFICATIONS:


EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:


  • A bachelor's Degree or master’s degree in occupational therapy and/or acceptable combination of equivalent experience 
  • Experience in working with individuals who have a brain injury, orthopedic injury and/or chronic pain.
  • Good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of BC 


COMPETENCIES, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Good judgment, sensitivity, flexibility, discretion and resourcefulness.  
  • Knowledge and competency in maintaining confidentiality of client information according to FIPPA and PHIPA legislation.  
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to clients in ways that build confidence and trust.  
  • Able to work in a highly diverse community with individuals from varied backgrounds and a variety of age groups, presenting with a range of difficulties and personal issues.  
  • Strong knowledge of community resources.  
  • Respond to new client inquiries in a timely manner and provide an overall excellent level of customer service. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively with staff and senior administrators about issues facing individuals in crisis and make recommendations.
