Job Description

Selo Gardens, Senior Citizens’ Independent Living Complex, is recruiting for a manager to oversee its operations and provide service and support to its residents.

Sponsored by the Regina Ukrainian Orthodox Housing Corporation (RUOHC), a non-profit, Selo Gardens provides affordable independent living accommodations for seniors. The facility consists of 68 life-lease and condominium suites.


Responsibilities

Reporting to a volunteer Board of Directors, as a hands-on manager you are directly responsible for day-to-day operations, facilities management, tenant and Board relations, financial management, community relations and marketing, and administration.The work of the Manager is diversified and collaborative in nature involving broad issues that may have implications not only for Selo Gardens, but also for other organizations, partners and stakeholders.

While the services of the Manager are required Monday through Friday, inclusive, it may also be necessary, from time-to-time, to attend to exigencies that may occur outside of a regular work week. Such duties may be worked into the normal work week through flex time by mutual agreement with the Board.


Qualifications

  • Experience in financial management, facilities management, and budgeting is required.
  • Minimum of 5 years relevant management experience. A Certificate or Bachelor’s Degree in Business is preferred. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be considered.
  • Experience in hiring, training and managing staff.
  • Reporting to a board, exposure to the Residential Tenancies Act, National Building Code, and contracting services is an asset.

  • Knowledge of Ukrainian Culture and Language is a definite asset.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and email applications.
  • Organizational skills including development of policies and procedures.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, customer service oriented and understanding of the needs of seniors.
  • Effective conflict resolution skills and ability to build and maintain positive and effective relationships.
  • Ability to read, write and verbally communicate effectively in English.
  • Ability to problem solve and to work independently.
