Manager of Legal Operations
Job location: This position is to be hired in Canada and will be remote unless you live in the Ottawa area in which the role will be hybrid with a minimum of working in the office 3 days a week.
About The Team
Reporting to our Senior Legal Counsel, Corporate, the Manager of Legal Operations, as a fully proficient and seasoned professional, is responsible for the legal department’s operational strategy and execution. This will include designing strategies, processes, technology implementations and reporting to ensure optimal performance and maximum efficiency for our global Legal team.
The Manager of Legal Operations will have the opportunity to shape key operational improvement initiatives within the legal department, delivering on high impact projects that ultimately enable the broader Kinaxis team.
What you will do
  • In partnership with our IT team, developing and managing roadmap for legal technology across all legal practice groups, including new tools and enhancements to existing tools.
  • Design and implement processes and procedures that improve workflow management, create efficiencies and advance departmental strategies.
  • Drive transformation activities to improve department effectiveness and impact.
  • Support on other projects and initiatives within the legal department as necessary.
  • Tracking departmental budget and implementing legal vendor management policies and procedures.
  • Design and maintain knowledge management and document management systems and processes.
  • Design and facilitate training and enablement sessions for Legal team members, ensuring effective adoption of new technology and processes.
  • Work closely with the legal leadership team and stakeholders from across the business to identify operational challenges and priorities.
  • Managing the department’s onboarding and professional development/CLE programs.
  • Coordinate department-wide meetings and communications.
  • Lead change management initiatives within the department and the broader Kinaxis team, including communications
  • Develop legal reporting metrics for the legal team, including an operational dashboard to provide insights and inform decision making.
What we are looking for
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive legal operations experience, with at least 3 years experience within an in-house legal department,
  • Strong collaboration skills, with ability to build relationships within the team and across other departments
  • Advanced analytical, problem solving, and critical thinking skills with the ability to coordinate input from multiple sources to develop impactful recommendations to achieve results for the business.
  • Highest standards of ethics, professional integrity and confidentiality
  • Demonstrated project management / process improvement experience
  • Superior ability managing and prioritizing workloads in an environment of ongoing urgency, ambiguity, and change
  • Experience leading transformation activities, including facilitating training
  • Proven experience implementing new technology, processes, and procedures within a legal department to meet strategic objectives.
  • Good business judgment and sound decision-making
  • Bachelor’s degree or relevant equivalent experience
