Job Description
Birch Mountain Enterprises is looking to hire an experienced maintenance worker who is a Jack or Jill of all trades, to join our team. You will perform basic repairs or preventative maintenance when required, mainly on washcars . To do well in this role you should have previous experience in maintenance, be highly skilled with various hand and power tools, and be able to read blueprints and repair manuals.

Job Summary:


Operating out of our Fort McKay Incubator Park location, the Maintenance Worker, will perform maintenance & repairs related to buildings, grounds and equipment, in one or more areas such as electrical, plumbing, painting, carpentry and grounds-keeping.


Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Use equipment, including power tools, hand tools, electric tools, and plumbing tools.
  • Collaborate with the maintenance team and contractors as needed.
  • Load and unload equipment and tools into work vehicles if needed.
  • Handle necessary repairs and maintenance.
  • Maintain our fleet of washcars: minor electrical, plumbing and carpentry work required.
  • Inspect the building, grounds, and equipment.
  • Keep a maintenance log and writes shift reports.
  • Read and follows manuals, blueprints, and other written instructions.
  • Follow building codes.
  • Report any issues to the Operations Manager or clients.
  • Comply with all company safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Follow written and verbal instructions from the Operations Manager or clients.
  • Install equipment and appliances.
  • Respond to repair and maintenance requests in a timely fashion.


Qualifications and Experience:


  • Previous experience with building maintenance, electrical, plumbing and carpentry.
  • Minimum possess a valid class 5 license with a clean driver's abstract.
  • Legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • This position does not require red seal certification in any trades.


Skills and abilities:


  • Ability to take apart machines, equipment, or devices to remove and replace defective parts.
  • Experience performing routine maintenance.
  • Strong organizational and follow up skills.
  • Strong time management skills.
  • Eye for detail.
  • Experience with precision measuring instruments or electronic testing devices.
  • Ability to use common tools such as hammers, hoists, saws, drills, and wrenches.
  • Ability to maintain focus while working individually.
  • Professional presentation and attitude.
  • Ability to check blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs as necessary.
  • Skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
