As our client's facility continues to grow, they're looking to bring on a Maintenance Supervisor to lead the maintenance team at their Chemainus or Cowichan Bay sawmills in British Columbia!
A Canadian owned industry leader in the wood processing and specialty wood products, this top client has been serving their customers locally and internationally for 65 years. The team at this mill in particular has fantastic tenure and they're looking for a long-term fit.
What You'll Do As a Maintenance Supervisor
Provide day-to-day direction and assistance to the Maintenance team, utilizing your expertise to maintain and improve the reliability of equipment, reduce downtime and maximize efficiencies. Working closely with the Production team, you will be responsible for the organization and execution of corrective and preventative maintenance activities with the overall objective to drive improved equipment reliability and reduced overall maintenance costs.

Rotations
Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 4:30pm
Thursday - Sunday from 6:00am - 4:30pm

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:
  • Hire, train, coach, mentor and manage performance of hourly maintenance employees, including providing leadership in safety and environmental stewardship by demonstrating and ensuring the adherence of company safety and sustainability processes and procedures
  • Promotes pro-active maintenance practices by performing regular reviews of equipment in the field to determine overall operating performance and scheduling appropriate preventative maintenance to minimize downtime
  • Day to day balancing of planned maintenance as well as critical repairs to enable equipment productivity and minimize downtime
  • Directs unionized maintenance personnel and contractors to ensure that all equipment operates at its highest capability to meet required production schedules, quality and cost priorities
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE:
  • Strong interpersonal relationship and communication skills
  • Highly organized and able to prioritize work
  • Sawmill, maintenance, and manufacturing experience is preferred
  • Red Seal Millwright ticket or Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering strongly preferred
  • Previous supervisory experience is preferred
  • Strong safety background
