As a Log Transportation and Marine Logistics Manager you’ll be responsible for overseeing all marine log distribution and operations. Your job is to ensure timely delivery of logs to all facilities and customers, and support the Log Delivery Team with managing all dry and wet sort locations, barging, towing, and restoring operations.

What You’ll Be Doing
  • Provide safety leadership throughout the marine supply chain, maintain standards like Safe Work Procedures and SOP’s to establish performance expectations throughout the supply chain and maintain compliance with all legislation and regulations including but not limited to the Forest Act and Timber Transport Regulations
  • Oversee all log and marine logistics, log delivery team members including barging, towing and resorting operations, and contract staff
  • Works with finance and senior management to develop log distribution strategy and identify opportunities to streamline log supply chain and drive cost efficiencies.
  • Inventory reporting, establishing systems and standards for maintenance of logs, boomstick and gear inventories and ensuring compliance with company standards
  • Provide all contact management to facilities, managing log sort employees, production planning and tracking, budgeting, HSMS and EMS program implementation, capital planning and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Handling all contract management of logistics service providers and contractors that also includes negotiating barge and towing rates, which includes working with Logistics on various delivery methods that meet customer costs and requirements, also working with finance to share reports, and monthly costs for financial results for the log delivery business unit.
What You Bring
  • Knowledge of the lumber and forestry market and manufacturing
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business or Forestry related degree
  • Experience with coastal harvesting, handling log practices, and Log distribution (barging, towing, booming)
  • Proficiency with technology and software such as Microsoft Office Suite and inventory management systems
  • Experience with creating systems, establishing processes and standard operating procedures
  • Strong commitment to safety values and experience with LOTO
  • A minimum of 7+ years’ of experience in the Forestry Industry
  • Experience in a sawmill or manufacturing environment
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to multitask
  • A great attitude that includes being committed to doing quality work

  • Scaling Ticket
  • RPF designation
  • Experience with 3Log Inventory Management System (LIMS)
