The Role
As a Janitor at CLBC, you will be responsible for maintaining and sustaining a sterile environment in all areas of the Provincial Assessment Centre.
Key Responsibilities Include
  • Ensure storage areas and supplies are secured at all times
  • Mop and disinfect non-carpeted floors
  • Dust, wipe and disinfect all office furniture (e.g. tables, chairs, etc.), office equipment (e.g. fax machines, printers, etc.), and other equipment/areas
  • Vacuum all carpeted and non-carpeted areas and upholstery
  • Change bed linens, including remove soiled or used bedding
  • Check and restock consumable supplies, disinfectants, cleaning agents and tools
  • Clean individual rooms upon notification of admission or discharge
  • Provide a daily checklist/report to Clinical Operations Leader indicating completion of work done
  • Sweep entryway and stairs. Ensure outdoor landings and stairs are clean from debris or seasonal hazards
  • Shampoo rugs and upholstery as and when required or on a maintenance
  • Strip and refinish floors on a maintenance schedule to maintain the wear and tear of the floors
  • Remove debris and dust from accessible maintenance points such as dryer lint screen and vents
  • Complete expense approval forms
  • Clean and disinfect all bathrooms, medical exam rooms, client rooms and other treatment and care areas

  • Have an ability to work independently to ensure the completion of daily and scheduled duties
  • Are service-oriented
In this position, you may interact with potentially unpredictable, aggressive and mentally challenged clients.
Qualifications
  • A Grade 12 twelve diploma is preferred
  • Must be able to interact and communicate in English both verbal and written
  • Minimum of two years janitorial experience in a healthcare environment (preferred)
  • Basic First Aid and CPR preferred

This is an auxiliary position. Auxiliaries may be hired for project work, or to cover vacancies or leaves of varying lengths.
Status/Term: Auxiliary. As is needed until Oct 2, 2023
Classification/Salary: R6 - Starts at $22.12 per hour

The Provincial Assessment Centre (PAC) is the designated tertiary care mental health service for individuals aged 14 years and older who have a developmental disability and a concurrent mental illness or behavioural concern. PAC provides multi-disciplinary and specialized inpatient assessment and treatment for dually diagnosed individuals. Our team includes physicians, nurses, occupational therapists, art therapists, behavioural consultant, psychologist, social worker, dietician, mental health support workers, plus a dedicated administration and support services team.
