Investment Planning Specialist



What is the opportunity?


As a Financial Planner Intern in a unique three year mentorship program, you will develop the financial planning expertise necessary to succeed as an accredited RBC Financial Planner. The Mentorship Program offers an opportunity to learn financial planning from a successful, established Financial Planner in a growing market. You will be aligned with an expert Financial Planner and learn through the hands-on application of financial planning and relationship management. When you are fully proficient and accredited, you will move into a full financial planner role. Your boundless energy to meet targets and your passion for holistic financial planning is what pushes you to provide world-class advice and solutions that help clients achieve their long-term goals. With a combination of base plus annual incentive compensation, you can create the future you want for yourself and for the clients you advise.


What will you do?


  • Enable Mentor to increase financial planning and advice activities
  • Acquire either the Personal Financial Planner (PFP) or Certified Financial Planner (CFP) no later than the conclusion of the mentorship
  • Provide tailor-made financial advice and help clients reach their goals, using our unparalleled array of investment, credit, and everyday banking solutions
  • Cultivate relationships with service partners and local markets to optimize business opportunities and referrals
  • Build a portfolio and support contact management across both portfolios


What do you need to succeed?


Must-have


  • Mutual Funds License (IFIC or CSC)
  • Ability to develop a strong referral network
  • Excellent communication, time management and organizational skills
  • Personal Financial Services Advice course (or equivalent)
  • Proven networking and client acquisition skills


Nice-to-have


  • Previous experience in financial services
  • A post-secondary diploma/degree, ideally in commerce or business administration
  • Continuous learner with a deep curiosity for understanding his/her diverse customers and is up-to-date with changes in client needs, procedures, and relevant products
