Job Description
Established in 1976, the Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies (SIIT) is a First Nation governed post-secondary institution. Recognized under provincial legislation, the Institute has been conferred authority to grant certificates and diplomas. SIIT welcomes over 2400 students into our urban and community programs annually as well as serving over 6000 clients through our nine Career Centres across the province. These Include The Following Broad Range Of Accountabilities


SIIT is recruiting for a Mental Health & Wellness Instructor. As the educational leader in the classroom, the Instructor in the Mental Health & Wellness program, will be responsible for delivering SIIT programs and curricula with the purpose of promoting student success. This position is to organize and implement instructional activities which create a learning environment that guides and provides the greatest opportunity for student success. This position will positively promote and create an environment that demonstrates SIIT's vision, mission, and mandate.


  • Prepare lesson plans and appropriate planning documents for course delivery
  • Complete all course-required materials including attendance records and course evaluations
  • Make recommendations to modify course objectives, course outlines, curriculum and evaluation procedures
  • Ensure a positive, diverse and inclusive work and learning environment
  • Engage learners in experiencing a balance of contemporary learning, as well as Indigenous knowledge with a holistic approach
  • Use appropriate methods of evaluating and recording student progress within set time frames
  • Maintain classroom and shop discipline and, if necessary, recommend action to applicable supervisor regarding student behavior, including formal student disciplinary action
  • Adhere to and promote academic regulations and SIIT policies and procedures
  • Incorporate current technology advancements within instruction and administration where applicable

Required Qualifications and Experience: A Bachelor of Education, Bachelor of Social Work, or degree in a related field is required. An understanding of adult learning theories and principles is considered an asset. For success in this position a genuine commitment to help students learn and succeed is required. Prior teaching experience would be preferred. Ability to understand and incorporate contemporary methodologies with a complementary Indigenous worldview and pedagogy are an asset. Knowledge of First Nations cultures and organizations would be an asset. An understanding of adult learning theories and principles is considered an asset.


This is a full time position. Contract Date: August 21, 2023 to July 31, 2024.
