The Objective Of The Position
This is a full-time position based in Edmonton, AB, and reports to the IT Manager. This role is responsible for leading a team of 7 staff members in the development and maintenance of software applications that support the business operations of Durabuilt Windows & Doors Inc. These applications include but are not limited to, Salesforce, ERP systems, accounting systems, Human Resource Information systems, and several other systems that control manufacturing equipment. In addition to these, there are custom applications developed in-house to support the business as well as integration work. The manager will be accountable for ensuring that the software applications are developed and deployed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of the business stakeholders.
Accountabilities

• Collaborate with the IT manager to ensure that the software applications are integrated with other systems and aligned with the overall IT strategy.
• Ensure that the ERP system is maintained and enhanced as per business needs.
• Manage the software development life cycle and ensure that applications are developed and deployed on time, within budget, and to the satisfaction of the business stakeholders.
• Communicate effectively with business stakeholders to understand their requirements and ensure that the software applications meet their needs.
• Lead and manage a team of System Analysts, Business Analysts, & Team Leaders; providing guidance and mentorship to ensure that the team is productive and motivated.
• Ensure that the software applications are developed to a high standard of quality and that they are maintainable and scalable.

Required Skills & Capabilities

• A strong understanding of software development methodologies, including Agile and Waterfall, and familiarity with the Scrum framework would be an advantage.
• Strong understanding of system integrations – multiple systems exchange data using either RESTful APIs or flat file exchange or direct database access.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.
• Experience working with a variety of programming languages and frameworks.
• Proven experience leading software development and application services teams
• Hands-on experience with software development with exposure to the full software development life cycle, project management, and quality assurance is a plus.

Education & Certifications Required

• Any certifications related to the role will be advantageous. No hard requirements.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, software engineering or a related field

Working Conditions

• Lifting and/or carrying anywhere from 0 lbs to 20 lbs.
• Routinely uses standard office equipment such as laptop computers and smartphones.
• Intermittent travel may be required to support the IT department, and attend meetings and training sessions.
• Pressure to produce tangible results and complete projects within tight timelines.
• Operate primarily in an office environment.
