ABOUT FORT MCKAY The Fort McKay First Nation (FMFN) is composed of over 800 band members, including those of Cree and Dene heritage, with approximately 400 members residing in the hamlet of Fort McKay — a community located approximately 65 km north of Fort McMurray. Fort McKay offers the best of both worlds: remote northern life for the nature lover and proximity to a large city of about 70,000 people with all the amenities you need. ABOUT THE ROLE We are looking for passionate and caring Homemakers to join our multidisciplinary Health care team! Under the direction of the Nursing Supervisor, the Homemaker is responsible to ensure that the standards of cleanliness are achieved and maintained on a consistent basis to provide the highest level of client satisfaction, within established time limitations. * These are casual positions with part-time and full-time hours available, including working days, evenings and weekends and range from 8 to 12 hours shifts.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Ensure the housekeeping needs of the client are met and respected. Ensures the personal and spiritual needs of the client are respected. Transport clients to either medical appointments, personal banking, shopping and/or social events. Plan and prepare meals adhering to any special dietary needs or requests. Provide care and companionship for individuals and families during periods of incapacitation, convalescence or family disruption. Attend job related workshops, seminars and conferences as requested, to keep current on the developments or changes in the area of Home Care. Maintain safety procedures as required by FMFN. Follow Health and Safety principles in delivering care to clients in the community while working effectively and cooperatively with others. Other duties as assigned . KEY REQUIREMENTS High School Diploma A valid Class Five (5) driver’s licence is required Valid St. Johns First Aid certification Knowledge in safe food handling, nutrition and meal preparation Must be physically capable of performing required duties. This includes occasional lifting up to 50 lbs, repetitive walking, bending, squatting, twisting motion and kneeling is required Good communication and interpersonal skills Excellent attention to detail and execution on work quality Ability to speak and/or understand Cree and/or Dene is an asset Experience in a First Nations community is a definite asset
