Job Description
As a member of the healthcare team, provides clinical support in patient care areas. Functions according to the job description for Healthcare Aides


  • Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics
  • Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses at McMaster University or nursing student with successful completion of all level 2 courses in McMaster University and Mohawk College collaborative program or nursing student with successful completion of all level 1 courses in the Mohawk College Diploma program
  • Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
  • Computer familiarity or willingness to learn computer skills as required
  • Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions
  • Demonstrated initiative and judgement appropriate for the position
  • Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly

Unit Summary


The Cardiac Care Unit, General Site provides comprehensive interdisciplinary care to complex patients with unstable angina, acute myocardial infarction, congestive heart failure, high risk arrhythmia, cardiomyopathy or valve dysfuntion.


Critically ill patients with multiple organ involvement, post-cardiac arrest, post-angiogram or PTCA complications, hemodynamic instability requiring invasive monitoring, ventilation and intra aortic balloon pump support. The CCUprovides cardiac arrest team services for the General Site.
