Job Description
We are currently seeking a highly skilled and experienced Health and Safety Coordinator who will play a crucial role in our transportation operations during the night and rotating shift at Oshawa location. we encourage you to apply.

What You’ll Be Doing
Duties and Responsibilities:
Must maintain absolute confidentiality and remain impartial
Assist in developing and implementing occupational health and safety program, policies, procedures, and processes
Advise all levels of management, JHSC, and employees on Health and Safety issues
Ensures compliance to all company policies and procedures, as well as all government Regulations, enforcing compliance as required
Administer WSIB claims management activities and the return-to-work program
Assess safety training needs and provide training to all employee’s, ensuring training is up to date in accordance with legislation
Maintain accurate training records for all employees
Conduct new hire orientations
Review Incident reports: close loop of countermeasures and follow up on action plans providing assistance with corrective actions as necessary
Coach/Train operation on trends and goals with regards to Incident reports
Perform Risk Assessments and assist in identifying and implementing counter measures.
Perform and/or arrange for ergonomics assessment, as required
Coordinate Fire drills, with the support of plant and operations managers
Ensure Emergency Procedures are up to date and that appropriate personnel are trained on the procedures
Act as an Advisor for the JHSC; develop workplace inspections and forms as required
Coordinates and reports on air sampling, noise sampling, etc. as required
Attend training sessions, seminars, and networking groups for continued professional growth
Filing
May be required to sit for extended periods of time
May be required to repeatedly lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs unassisted
May be required to lift between 50-75 lbs assisted
Frequent use of hands, lifting, bending, stooping, twisting, standing, and reaching may occur
There may be some stepping up, stepping down and carrying
Maintain and ensure compliance with all applicable legislation relating to the OH&S Act, Regulations, MOL, WSIB and Employment Standards for all TFT employees
Help all departments to improve and enhance their safety and training programs
Focus on prevention of accidents, incidents, and injuries
All other duties as assigned


What You’ll Bring to the Team
Qualifications and Requirements:
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in Health and Safety field
Working knowledge of legislation/principles concerning Health and Safety
Grade 12 Education or Equivalent
University or College graduate in OHS or equivalent field; CRSP preferred.
No criminal record for which a pardon has not been granted.
Successful completion of aptitude test
Must pass company medical.
Must be willing to travel to all locations and support all shifts.
Must possess intermediate to advanced computer skills.
Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.
At least 2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Strong computer skills and proficiency in logistics management software.
Basic knowledge of tractor trailers and transportation equipment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively work with a diverse team.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Compensation:

The Health and Safety Co-Ordinator’s position offers an attractive annual salary of $70,000.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent
Schedule:
Night shift (Sun to Thursday)
Rotating shift
6 days per week (mandatory) when the plant is running.
