Location: Calgary, AB


Hours: 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM


Days: Monday - Friday


Purpose of Job:


The Handyman/woman is responsible for providing light general contractor and related services to existing and new commercial clients. The incumbent is responsible for completing various activities, including minor repair and maintenance in the following areas: plumbing, carpentry, interior/exterior paint, drywall, electrical, heating/cooling, and more.


Reporting Structure: The Handyman/woman reports directly to the AB General Manager.


Responsibilities:


  • Must be able to work independently while managing time/changing service schedules;
  • Gather required tools and supplies specific to the job/repair;
  • Service clients in a polite and professional manner;
  • Perform tasks within service guidelines and seek appropriate approval for safety-sensitive situations;
  • Other duties as required per business needs.
  • Maintain client data & update work order information;
  • Upsell/offer additional services and seek opportunities for repeat business;
  • Create invoices and process payments;
  • Maintain clean company vehicles and storage areas;
  • Safely drive a Company vehicle to the job site;
  • Move heavy furniture, equipment, appliances, and other items;
  • Build quotes for work orders & follow-up with clients;
  • Track daily expenses;
  • Order supplies and equipment;


Skills Required:


  • Ability to use Google Maps, GPS systems, other related smartphone apps, and more;
  • Basic computer and smartphone knowledge with experience using MS Office programs;
  • Must be able to use job-related tools and equipment with ease;
  • Multilingual ability is considered an asset.
  • Excellent customer service and listening skills;
  • Good understanding of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
  • Good written and verbal communication skills;
  • Basic math and ability to read blueprints, diagrams, and plans;
  • Ability to effectively analyze, plan, organize, prioritize, and meet deadlines;


Education & Experience:


  • Acceptable security and criminal record check.
  • Previous related experience considered an asset;
  • Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving abstract;
  • Trades-related ticket/education considered an asset;
