Job Description

Adecco is currently seeking an experiencedGround Support Equipment Technician, for a full-time, permanent position at a leading Canadian specialty aerospace and defence company in Abbotsford, BC. In this role, you will perform inspections and repairs of Ground Support Equipment (GSE) and carries out mechanical maintenance on company vehicles.


  • Undertake visual mechanical inspection of all GSE according to the pre-determined schedule, including but not limited to scissor lifts, boom lifts, tugs, fuel trucks, dollies, scaffolding, forklifts and hydraulic jacks;
  • Pay Rate: $32.19 - $35.25 / Hour

  • Certificate in Automotive Mechanics and/or Welding; Forklift, Scissor Lift and Boom Lift
  • 3 to 5 years of experience carrying out automotive or commercial equipment maintenance, including inspection and repair of brakes
  • Ensure all maintenance work tasks are performed in accordance with the company health and safety policies and procedures. Be familiar with and ensure that all workplace conduct is in accordance with Human Resources safety and security policies and procedures.
  • Good work ethic with proven good attendance and punctuality
  • Complete support documentation to record inspections completed;
  • Wash company vehicles at least once per month;

  • Ensure all safety policies and procedures are adhered to when operating equipment and machinery. Requirements and Qualifications:
  • Good general handyman skills: able to use a variety of tools
  • Remove GSE units from service if deemed to be defective, unsafe or in need of repair;
  • Repair all GSE.
  • Heavy Duty Mechanic and/or Diesel experience would be an asset
  • Repair, weld, and replace parts on GSE as needed;
  • Location: Abbotsford, BC
  • Access endorsement training and development opportunities provided by an approved training organization (ATO).
  • Request parts needed to carry out the repairs;
  • Job type: Full-time | Permanent Advantages:

  • Ensure proper safety equipment such as proper gloves, respirators and eye and ear protection are worn when handling hazardous materials;
  • Shifts: Monday - Friday | 8 AM - 5 PM
  • Relocation Package available for eligible candidates. Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Perform regular maintenance checks every two weeks, which includes but is not limited to checking the oil, water, brakes, lights, beacons, windshield, and tire pressure;
  • Participate in company-wide social events and family functions throughout the year.
  • Take vehicles to the insurance company as necessary to make claims.
  • Ensure all co-workers are made aware of hazardous materials being handled around them;
  • Complete all repairs needed unless the vehicle is under factory warranty;
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience with general mechanical work
  • Excellent communication skills: fluent written and verbal English is mandatory
  • Perform mechanical maintenance of company vehicles.
  • Perform inspections of GSE.
  • Report findings to Facilities Crew Leader.
