General Labourer / Apprentice Jobs

Forbes Bros Ltd. is looking for multiple General Labourer's or Apprentice's (full-time, permanent) to join our growing team supporting our projects based out of the Yorkton, SK Region. Our growth in the Yorkton Region spans from Wadena, Wynyard, Sturgis, Melville and more!

The General Labourer / Apprentice will be responsible for assisting other crew members in day-to-day tasks inclusive of but not limited to operating small equipment and tools to complete tasks, carrying and moving materials as needed and other additional tasks and duties as assigned.

Key Responsibilities

• Pulling and placing underground and overhead cables
• Performing additional labourer tasks and duties as assigned
• Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
• Development of skills on varied and challenging tasks
• Spotting for vehicles and equipment
• Operating small equipment and hand tools
• Following instruction and adhering to safe work practices
• Assisting craft/crew members with work as directed
• Digging and back-filling trenches
• Carrying and moving materials as needed
• Site setup and cleanup, ensuring trash, debris and other potential dangerous materials from the construction site are removed

Candidate Requirements

• Physically fit and able to perform manual labour in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting
• A recognized Apprentice Card holder, an asset
• Ability to travel to frequent overtime hours and weekend hours as required to accommodate to project schedules and needs
• General knowledge of the principals involved in the operation of construction, maintenance methods and procedures is required
• Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a team to efficiently and effectively complete jobs within deadlines
• Class 1A drivers license, an asset
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of Pre-Access D&A testing, presenting a valid Driver's License and an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract
