Job Description
Summary:
Under the supervision of the Co-Manager/ Assistant General Manager/Group Sales Manager (GSM), the Senior Lead provides daily direction to the employees within the store, to include: merchandise presentation, inventory control, pricing, sales enhancements, stocking and customer service activities. Performs manager on duty responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
  • Supports a strong commitment to world class customer service and ensures a pleasant and productive shopping experience for all customers.
  • Maintains pricing, UPC integrity and helps determine assortments and accuracy of inventory. Proper display, signing and pricing of all advertised items.
  • Prepares weekly work schedules, coaches and motivates employees to promote positive customer relations and a productive team-oriented work environment.
  • Assists with carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the Company’s policies and applicable laws. This includes addressing complaints, resolving problems and maintaining a positive and respectful work environment for all employees, free of harassment or discrimination.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as may be assigned from time to time.
  • Assists in staffing the department with “service” oriented employees by participating in interviewing and making recommendations for selection.
  • Coordinates and delivers training.
  • Resolves customer and employee opportunities in partnership with the GSM and/or Human Resources.
  • Has “Manager on Duty” responsibilities; including, but not limited to; opening and closing the store, responding to alarm calls, reacting to sick calls, ensuring outfitter engagement with customers, assigning tasks as needed, communicating any performance issues to Management. Solving any customer inquiries or concerns.
  • Supports in achievement of departmental sales, gross margin, inventory shrinkage and payroll goals.
  • Prepares to-do / task lists, and provides daily direction to the associates within the department.
  • Executes merchandising directives and assists with coordination of “Special Events”.; i.e. “Flyer Execution, Top 25 list”, “Extreme Savings” items, etc. & maintain all plan-o-grams as set by the Corporate Office.
  • Consults with GSM and gives input on preparation of performance appraisals.
Qualifications:
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, customers and with the Corporate Office.
  • Able to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, commissions and percentages.
  • 2-4 Years of work experience in a retail environment.
  • Supervisory experience is an asset.
  • Proficiency with PC-based word processing, spreadsheets, data-based management and electronic point of sale and inventory management systems.
  • Ability to read and analyze reports
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, employees, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to conduct meetings and presentations to groups.
