FINANCIAL ADVISOR


OFFICE OF THE REGISTRAR


Hey NorQuester! We're excited to see you consider this opportunity to join our Office of the Registrar team as a Financial Advisor. The Student Financial Aid team is a centralized financial advising group assisting learners from application to graduation.


Reporting to the Team Lead Student Financial Aid, the Financial Advisor provides guidance, information, and options to help students make informed decisions on funding their education, keeping up to date on current internal and external funding options, processes, and policies to provide consistent and accurate information to students.


How You'll Make a Difference


  • Advise students on financial related issues including tuition and fees, and account balance.
  • Provide general information on tuition and fee deadlines, adds/drops, and withdrawals.
  • Assist students with understanding and completion of forms related to funding.
  • Connect students with external resources.
  • Connect students with Retention Advisors for course planning.
  • Confirm course enrolment for student grants.
  • Advise students of student loan payment options.
  • Understand policies and processes related to funding options, loans, and grants.
  • Provide financial counseling to students through one-on-one interactions and group workshops.
  • Contact external funders on behalf of students.
  • Discuss financial implications when lack of academic progress or course/program withdrawal occurs.
  • Provide funding advice, information, and assistance, in person, over the phone and electronically, to applicants and current students.
  • Access external government financial systems to assist students with financial application process.
  • Follow-up with students regarding funding options and issues as well as application completion.
  • Refer applicants to other internal departments including student association and student support services.


What You Bring


  • 3+ years experience in student advising or in a student-centred role in a post-secondary setting.
  • A post-secondary degree in a relevant discipline.

  • Knowledge of PeopleSoft would be an asset.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • An ability to exercise judgement within established guidelines.


SALARY $53,230 - $69,156 reflective upon what you bring AKA your education and experience. This is a full-time permanent position with immediate participation in our amazing benefit and pension programs.
