Job Description

As part of the Global Zinc Exploration team, you will be involved in a variety of Projects, located mainly in Asia, South America and Australia.


You will have deep level of involvement in brownfields exploration strategy and exploration program by reviewing, optimizing, and prioritizing work to align with corporate short to medium growth requirements.


Positions will be based in Montreal with frequent onsite travel.


In this growing team, you will also be expected to:


  • Provide technical coaching and mentorship for members of the team, willingness to teach others.
  • Complete due diligence work, internal and external, including data validation and process review;
  • Geological modelling and model review using various software packages;
  • Provide support and geological expertise to other groups across various required;
  • Plan and monitor execution of work jointly with the various sites, brownfields exploration work, and other geological work to be performed including robust QAQC processes;
  • Contribute to strategic development and improvement of near mine brownfield exploration work as part of the Glencore Life of Asset process;
  • Provide technical leadership for regional teams including review, development and maintenance of best practice and protocols;
  • Assist sites with data collection by implementing and optimizing processes in-line with Glencore standards;
  • Contribute to the development of new standards and work methods as part of the group process optimization;
  • Assist sites with geological work proposals, implementation and monitoring of brownfield and resource infill drilling programs;


As the successful candidate you will have experience in, and demonstrate the following:


  • Registered as a Professional Geologist (P.Geo)
  • An ability to think across scales and integrate diverse, large datasets;
  • Experience building, assessing and interpreting complex geological models;
  • Possess a thorough understanding of a variety of geological settings, deposit models, and ore-forming processes;
  • Understanding of resource estimation processes;
  • A track record of talent development with strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills;
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Geology and, ideally, have also completed post-graduate studies;
  • Proficient with Leapfrog, GIS, and database management;
  • Self-motivated with strong leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and manage priorities;
  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in near-mine mineral exploration;
  • A demonstrated commitment to health, safety, environment, and community;
  • Excellent understanding of drilling methods and drilling program implementation, both underground and surface;


Languages: English; French and Spanish will be considered an asset.


Travel: You must be ready to travel up to 30% of the time – depending on the global situation.
