Exercise Assistant
Health and Social Services
This posting will be used to fill a part time, 60 hours biweekly term position to March 31, 2025. The eligibility list will be used to fill future full-time and part-time permanent, term, and AOC positions.
The Chronic Conditions Support Program is a collaborative care team that supports Yukoners living with chronic health conditions. Support is provided in the form of one-on-one and group programs and services that are accessible throughout the territory. CCSP has expanded its service capacity through various forms of virtual care including the use of zoom for health and Cloud DX connected health kits to provide services across the Yukon.
As the Exercise Assistant (EA), you will form an integral part of our team by providing quality, planned, proactive, person-centered chronic disease management (CDM) within the Chronic Conditions Support Program (CCSP). EA activities include working under the Clinical Exercise Specialists in providing prescribed exercises to clients and working with them to adapt and improve upon their techniques. They will form an integral part of the exercise specialist team and assist with the administrative tasks to ensure that services run seamlessly.
You will collaborate as a member of the CCSP team in a clinical setting to empower clients and families to self-manage chronic conditions while also supporting our program goals through the provision of high quality, collaborative chronic care, and effective and accessible self-management support.

Essential Qualifications
Please submit your resume clearly demonstrating how you meet the qualifications listed below – specifically – how your work experiences and related duties align with these essential qualifications. Note that selection for further consideration will be based on the information you provide in your resume, including the use of YG’s “month/year – month/year” formatting standard.
  • A degree in kinesiology (or health sciences related program) OR a current personal training diploma or fitness instruction certification in combination with significant experience providing direct group or one-one-one fitness instruction.
  • Experience selecting, demonstrating, and adapting exercises to meet the functional capacity/performance goals of a diverse population.
  • Experience providing fitness instruction to clients with Chronic Health Conditions would be an asset.
  • Experience working within a team of varying levels of skills or responsibility to deliver high quality customer service in a health program.
Candidates who have education, and experience equivalent to the essential qualifications listed above may be equally considered.

Additional Information
Conditions of Employment: Valid Class 5 drivers licence, TB Screening, RCMP Vulnerable Sector check, WHMIS within 1 month of hire.
Job Requirements: Ability to lift 50 pounds in an office, gym and fitness centre environment.
