Overview


The Maintenance Manager is responsible for the maintenance, repairs, new equipment purchases & management of all GCA operational equipment. Their primary focus will be on safety, maximizing productivity and equipment utilization at the lowest cost. The Maintenance Manager will help ensure there is adequate staffing on all maintenance/repairs projects to plants and equipment. Manages the maintenance service and repairs in the areas for the organization's facilities. Assists in the development of all budgets, targets, strategies, objectives and works towards the same. Regular communication between the Quarry Managers, Foremen and Operations Manager is a key component to equipment performance.


Responsibilities


SAFETY


  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environment areas. Promotes a positive safety culture through leadership by example.
  • Assist in the implementation and management of all local and regional safety initiatives, providing feedback as necessary.
  • Implementation and management of all safety initiatives
  • Work with the Safety Department and Management to administer, promote and review safety policies, processes and procedures.
  • Responsible for maintaining safe working environments and ensuring compliance with local, provincial and federal safety regulations; coordinate closely with local Safety Manager.
  • Provide feedback on subcontractor performance.
  • Creates and enforces a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
  • Constantly strives towards zero accidents and injuries.
  • Promotes safety culture through engagement with employees and subcontractors with an objective of developing a “think before you act” culture.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to communicating, improving and adhering to safety policies in all work environments and areas. ▪ Sets clear and consistent expectations for safety performance.


MAINTENANCE & EQUIPMENT


  • Recommends equipment and process changes to increase productivity.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and maximum utilization of all plants and equipment.
  • Ensures that project/department milestones are met while adhering to approved budgets.
  • Develops good relationships with Vendors to ensure the best pricing and the newest technologies are evaluated.
  • Responsible for the management and leadership of internal and external maintenance staff.
  • Monitors equipment and ensures efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Works with Foreman and Area Managers to plan and schedule daily maintenance activities and major Maintenance/Repair overhauls for all facilities
  • Works to achieve a fully functional Preventative Maintenance program, moving towards a Predictive Maintenance program that tracks, measures and predicts maintenance requirements.
  • Innovative and continuous improvement to equipment performance
  • Manages shop staff involved in the day-to-day repair/maintenance projects.


FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT


  • Effectively develops goals and objectives to track performance and continuously look for opportunities for improvement
  • Promotes a culture of performance and exceeding expected results.
  • Reviewing costs on a month-end review to ensure all costs are accounted for and are accurate.
  • Participate in monthly inventory, sales & production planning.


HUMAN RESOURCES


  • Adheres to all LH Human Resource Policies and ensures that all site employees do as well.
  • Recognize and be mindful of position succession plans.
  • Motivates employees and builds effective teams.
  • Document and communicate performance concerns to management, addressing performance concerns, ensuring company safety policies are followed and training requirements are met and /or completed.
  • Prevents and resolves problems involving individuals which arise out of or affect work situations.
  • Fosters positive relationships with employees, to contribute to productivity, motivation and morale.
  • Provides leadership for the operations staff located in the GCA area by working closely with Plant Foreman and Area Managers.
  • Ensures all employees are fit for duty in line with LH policies


ENVIRONMENTAL MANAGEMENT


  • Responsible for ensuring all Contractors meet the regulatory guidelines. Takes action and shuts down any operation that does not meet the strict environmental policies.
  • Plans effectively to ensure minimal impacts on surrounding communities.
  • Ensure that all maintenance activities meet or exceed all LafargeHolcim and Regulatory guidelines.
  • Assure adherence to applicable legislation and regulations, including permit and environmental conditions. ▪ Coordinate with the local Environmental Manager.


CUSTOMER FOCUS


  • Ensures a quality product within specifications and timely delivery to clients, actively works to resolve any issues.
  • Seek opportunities to meet and exceed customer expectations.
  • Maintain a strong focus on customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Provides excellent customer service to internal and external customers by addressing issues, questions or concerns in a timely manner.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with key stakeholders in the area.


Relationships With Other Functions


  • Volumes: 3.5M tonnes
  • 1 stationary crushing plant, 2 stationary wash plants, 1 portable wash plant, 1 fabrication shop, 4 portable crushers, 1 recycle crusher
  • DIMENSIONS
  • Indirect Reports: 12 Foremen
  • Direct Reports: 4 Maintenance Shop Personnel
  • Works closely with: Plant Foreman, Site Supervisors, Quarry Managers, Operations Manager, Safety, Sales & Environment

  • LV Ordering and Fuel Usage Utilization
  • Winter Maintenance Planning
  • Asset Utilization, KPI & OPI setting, monitoring and benchmarking
  • Cost improvement opportunities and Vendor Relations
  • Inspections of Plants and HME Equipment
  • Training Programs to Frontline workers and Foreman on Preventative Maintenance and Repairs
  • Month End Results
  • SAP Equipment review and updates to ensure equipment is coded and setup properly
  • Creation/Review/Implementation of Maintenance Safe Work Procedures and Practices
  • Failure/Breakdown Investigations
  • Spy Hill Parts Tent
  • FCA Hour Utilization
  • Detailed preventative and predictive maintenance plans


Qualifications


  • Strong communication and change management skills
  • Undergraduate degree in a relevant field preferred or a combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE
  • High energy positive leader with ability to influence high performing teams
  • Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
  • 10 years of proven operational experience and supervisory experience required
  • Excellent Mechanical Skills and understanding equipment
  • High capacity of working under pressure and stress
