Would you like to ply your trade in an innovative production facility? If so, we currently have an exciting opportunity for an Electrician! This role is based out of our Barrie, ON Plant. We are seeking an upbeat individual with a keen eye for detail and a positive demeanor. The successful candidate will have a focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement of themselves and the company.


Job Summary:


We are seeking an Electrician to focus on installing, maintaining, troubleshooting and repairing industrial, electrical and electronic control systems and devices. The Electrician reports to the Maintenance Supervisor and will work a 12-hour continental day shift schedule (7:00am -7:00pm, 7 shifts bi-weekly). This position offers opportunities for growth by way of our promote from within culture.


Principle Accountabilities:


  • Maintain, repair, install, and test electrical motors, generators, industrial storage batteries, test transformers and hydraulic and pneumatic control systems.
  • Plan and layout work assignments from sophisticated blueprints, sketches or verbal instruction
  • Work closely with all departments to deliver positive results.
  • Test electrical components and equipment for continuity, current, voltage, and resistance.
  • Prepare for shipment, parts needing to be sent for repairs.
  • Conduct preventative maintenance programs and keep accurate maintenance records.
  • Maintain good housekeeping and safe work practices as per the Company policies.
  • Organize and maintain parts inventory pertaining to electrical apparatus.
  • Competently and safely use all tools and operate all machinery and equipment required for the efficient repair and maintenance of company property.


Requirements


  • Good mechanical proficiency with an understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics is valuable asset.
  • Experience with Sigmateck, Bechoff, Allen Bradley and HPM Command 9000PLCs is an asset
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics is a must
  • Experience in plastics, injection molding or extrusion would be a definite asset.
  • Must provide own basic hand tools
  • Must be willing to learn and be further developed
  • Knowledge of health and safety practices.
  • Capable of inspecting, diagnosing, repairing and maintaining electrical wiring, receptacles, switch boxes, conduits, feeders, cable assemblies, lighting fixtures, and other electrical components.
  • Effective written and verbal communication ability
  • Certification, in good standing, of an Ontario Provincial Trade qualification (442A or 309A)
  • Knowledge of Electrical Code, process control, PLC programming and troubleshooting is a must
  • 2+ years experience with electrical industrial maintenance

Working Conditions


Incumbent spends almost 100% of their time in the plant environment requiring varying degrees of considerable physical labour. Lifting, pulling, pushing heavy objects (50-100 lbs.), standing and walking cover the majority of the work. Personal safety is affected by exposure to heat, dust, noise levels and the use of equipment such as sharp blades. Moderate amount of sensory attention is required. Limited control of work pace and unexpected workflow brings considerable stresses to this position.
