Role Summary


The Electrician repairs, maintains, and installs wiring, motors, transformers, generators, lighting, and other electrical systems equipment and components in compliance with electrical codes, standards, and regulations. Utilizes plans, drawings, specifications, and work orders to determine work requirement and sequence of repairs and/or installations.


Key Responsibilities


  • Perform maintenance on Plant facilities and equipment as required.
  • Maintain maintenance logs as required.
  • Schedule routine maintenance to ensure the most efficient flow of production with the least possible downtime.
  • Capable of programming controls equipment beyond level of simple troubleshooting (PLC, drives, safety PLC, weld timers, robots, etc.)
  • Maintain own work area clean, tidy and a safe environment in which to work.
  • Administer and execute the preventative maintenance program.
  • Conducts final safety approval of repaired equipment where necessary
  • Work with production scheduler to schedule repairs ensuring scheduler is aware when work assignments cannot be completed as planned.
  • Capable of identifying and utilizing external resources (vendors, contractors, technical support, etc.)


Other Tasks


  • Other duties that may be assigned.
  • Attends all scheduled meetings and training.
  • Continuously adhere to and apply the Magna Employee’s Charter, the Magna Corporate Constitution, and the Magna Operational Principles in all aspects of position and interaction with others.
  • Effective use of Maple’s Escalation Process.
  • Compliance to IATF customer requirements
  • Understands and follows established rules, procedures and policies relating to position.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by observing safe work practices and by following all safety policies and procedures.


Key Qualifications/Requirements


  • Able to communicate in English (both verbal and written)
  • All related equipment including scissor lifts
  • Ontario C of Q Electrician with 5 years related experience
  • Must have Toolbox and Tools to carry out required tasks.


Core Competencies


  • Intimate knowledge of equipment and processes within scope of job. Certified in use of all required equipment
  • Sufficient familiarity with electrical code in order to design and build circuits for production machines or power distribution.
  • Creative problem-solving skills are essential.
  • Skilled in root cause analysis and troubleshooting techniques of equipment problems
  • MEDAR and Lincoln welders
  • Constantly open to new ideas, open to change and CI, capable of moving ideas into actions
  • Assertive and self motivated, able to analyze and prioritize tasks
  • Proficient in FANUC programming


Physical Demands


  • Wears all PPE including company provided uniforms.
  • Required to carry out routine, repetitive tasks such as reaching, pushing, pulling, standing, walking, lifting, and bending.
  • Regularly exposed to noise, temperature change and on occasion lubricants and vibration.
  • Works rotating shift with occasional overtime if Customer requirements.
