ELECTRICIAN


Cavendish Farms is a leading producer of frozen food products for retail and foodservice markets throughout Canada, the United States, and around the world. We have state-of-the-art potato processing plants in Prince Edward Island, Lethbridge, Alberta, and Jamestown, North Dakota, and an appetizer plant in Wheatley, Ontario. Our Head office is in Dieppe, New Brunswick and has sales office locations in Toronto, Montreal, and Boston.


We are currently seeking a Classified Electrician in the Skilled Trades Department.


Qualifications
  • Education Required:
  • Valid electrician license in Ontario (442A and/or 309A)
  • Willing and able to work in various work environments i.e. heat, cold, wet, etc.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems and basic theory
  • Must be capable of completing electrical repairs safely
  • Preference will be given to the individual with strong PLC programming and trouble shooting skills (AB/Siemens/Modicon/HMI); all applicants will be required to pass a job related skills test
  • Ability to do some bending, lifting, climb stairs and ladders
  • Experience with Motor Control, PLC and Electronics in a factory setting required
  • Valid 'Industrial' and/or 'Construction & Maintenance' Certificate of Qualification
  • Years of Experience Required: 2-5 years of experience in the electrical field, in order to qualify for this position
  • Ability to read and write in the English Language
  • Ability to change electric motors and switches as required
  • Ability to work with a minimum supervision
  • Ability to use a multimeter to troubleshoot basic circuits
  • Ability to assemble/disassemble equipment with or without schematics or logic ladder
  • Ability to work all rotation shifts, weekends and overtime as required
  • Knowledge of programmable logic controllers (PLC) including installation and troubleshooting
  • Must understand and follow the lock-out/tag-out procedures
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and concept sketches and ability to work off such documents

In the role of Pipe Labourer, you will be provided variety in projects and locations and work alongside the best civil professionals in the industry in a safe manner. There are opportunities for growth and development for the right candidate.


The Pipe Labourer is responsible for performing heavy manual labour duties to assist in the preparation of excavations, installations, and repairs of underground pipe and related components.


Key Responsibilities


  • Guiding heavy equipment operators around site and trenches
  • Maintain tools and equipment
  • Working in confined spaces such as trenches, manholes, etc.
  • Other various construction related activities
  • Operating basic equipment such as plate tampers, rollers, lasers etc.
  • Loading and unloading construction materials
  • Leveling earth to fine grade specifications using a rake and shovel
  • May dig holes or drainage ditches using shovels and picks
  • Assisting heavy equipment operators with equipment attachments
  • Clean ground around buried pipe using pick or shovel
  • Assist in carrying and placing of pipe
  • Installing civil utility components such as pipes, manholes, etc.
  • Clean surface pipes with scrapers and steel brushes

  • Hardworking, self-starter and team player with a strong work ethic
  • Reliable transportation to work sites
  • Strong communication skills
  • 2-5 years labour experience in the civil construction industry
  • Strong safety mindset, with the ability to perform all duties with a high degree of safety consciousness
  • Willing and available to work flexible shifts
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, ever-changing environment
