Job Description
Are you an outstanding Recreation Coordinator? Adecco is currently seeking a permanent, full-time Recreation Coordinator / Early Childhood Educator Assistant, to work at our reputable client, a member of the Assembly of First Nations in Gold River, BC. Reporting to the Education Manager, you will be responsible for participating as a member of the team that provides a nurturing and age-appropriate education program for children in their Learning Centre. To qualify for this role, you must hold a valid ECEA certificate, and be in harmony with our client's philosophy, integrate their language and culture where possible and provide school readiness.
  • First three months of accommodation are provided
  • Location: Tsa'Xana, Gold River, BC
  • Relocation assistance is provided, if not presently a resident of Gold River, BC.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Supervise field trips and community outings as required.
  • Prepare, maintain, and supervise classroom and playground activities.
  • Maintain application of Health and Safety Standards.
  • Organize space, equipment, and materials to create an environment which encourages the children's exploration.
  • Observe and assess developmental level of children and encourage each child's efforts by providing meaningful commentary, by displaying work, etc.
  • Support projects and curriculum-based activities under the leadership of the classroom Early Childhood Educator/Supervisor.
  • Collaborate with Resource Consultants concerning implementation, set up of programs and activities for children with special needs.
  • Prepare and handle food according to standardized recipes to ensure food quality, safety, and quantity, as required.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by Education Manager. Ensures that all actions and activities meet the CCEYA regulations.
  • Perform housekeeping duties, as required.
  • Ensure the activities required for project based emergent curriculum are documented, maintained, and utilized when planning activities for the children in your group.
  • Create an atmosphere which is caring, stimulating and fun for children at the Recreation department & Learning Centre.
  • Perform duties as an Early Childhood Educator, as required.
  • Advise the Supervisor of pertinent information concerning children and their families.
Requirements and Qualifications:
  • RCMP clearance, within the last 12 months in addition to a Vulnerable Sector check is also a must
  • A valid ECEA Certificate is mandatory
  • Experience in First Nation Communities is a plus
  • Strong connections to the children and ability to come up with creative activities to support their development are crucial for success in this role
  • Experience with and an understanding of the importance of client confidentiality is needed
  • Must be legally eligible to work, and reside in Canada
  • Standard First Aid or Child Safe Certification is required
  • Strong administrative skills as well as excellent verbal communication skills are a must
  • Able to work well in team settings, as well as take initiative and prioritize tasks
  • Should be a professional and responsive person, with a positive work attitude
  • Progression towards obtaining an Early Childhood Educator Diploma is strongly preferred
