Northlands College is seeking a dynamic leader, strategic thinker, and operational specialist to join the Northlands College senior management team.

The Northlands College Director, Finance will be a motivated self-starter who is looking to grow, develop, and further their career all while being immersed in the natural beauty of northern Saskatchewan. This position will provide an opportunity for a highly skilled individual who supports and values the mission of the college to take their career to the next level. Reporting to the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Director, Finance is responsible for the oversight and leadership of the Northlands College’s accounting department. The portfolio is broad and diverse, including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Payroll, General Accounting, Purchasing, and Inventory. The Director, Finance also serves as the internal auditor for Northlands College.
Qualifications for the Director, Finance vacancy:
- A Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
- Expert level of skills in Excel.
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in the use of computer applications, including MS Excel, MS Word, databases, and web-based application.
- Knowledge of financial administration systems, obtained through prior work experience
- A related undergraduate degree
- Demonstrated experience in effective supervision of staff and leading a team, including development, performance management, and conflict resolution skills
- Proven organizational and interpersonal skills necessary to guide and lead a productive team as they manage tight timelines and multiple competing projects
- Demonstrated ability to identify individual and institutional priorities, and the capacity to establish and manage professional working relationships
- Familiarity with accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles including, but not limited to, Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Public Sector Accounting Standards
- Knowledge of program funding and budget development
- In-depth working knowledge of short- and long-term budgeting and forecasting
- Prior knowledge of a modern computerized accounting systems is a requirement
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Intermediate analytical financial modeling skills
