The Crossmount Group of Companies has an immediate opening for a Director of Events to join its team. Crossmount is a one-of-a-kind agricultural tourism destination in Saskatchewan and home to the Crossmount Cider Company and Glenlyon Event Venue. With 40 acres of land, a 15-acre fruit orchard, and an all-season greenhouse surrounded by housing, the Glen is a unique outdoor experience in the province of Saskatchewan. As our Director of Events, your primary responsibility will be promoting and managing our event facilities at Crossmount.
What you will do:
- Working with team members to plan and facilitate logistics for all events, including contract negotiations, guest lists, venue preparation, presentation materials, security, catering, entertainment, transportation, equipment, decor, and staffing.
- Work in collaboration with the culinary and service teams to ensure that the expectations of clients are exceeded
- Troubleshoot and handle any issues that arise
- Stay current, and often ahead of the curve, on event planning, marketing materials, design, and production trends, proactively identifying and solving operational challenges
- Prepare and ensure timely reconciliation and collection with accurate post and pre-event billing. Shared responsibility between Co-ordinator and Director
- Accountable for the day-to-day operations of the event venue including profitability and regulatory compliance.
- Provide accurate and timely information to all internal and external stakeholders.
- Implement strategies to attract new business
- Perform routine property inspections of common areas, building exteriors, and landscape ensuring regular maintenance and standards are being met.
What you need to be successful:
- Excellent organizational skills, including multitasking, time management, and meticulous attention to detail
- Experience in maintaining and building business relationships
- Minimum 5 years experience and proven success as an event planner in hospitality industry
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to handle pressure and make split-second decisions
- The ideal candidate is passionate, creative, and detail oriented, and dedicated to providing superb client service and growing the business.
- May be required to work a rotating schedule including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
