Job Description

Robert Half is currently seeking an Interim Senior Director of Media Relations to join our client on a full-time contract basis until the end of 2023 (at least). This is a hybrid role based in the Kitchener Waterloo area, which has a hybrid work structure.

As the Interim Senior Director of Media Relations, you will play a critical role in managing media relations, crisis communications, and stakeholder communications for our client's organization. You will be responsible for responding to media inquiries, drafting responses for escalated social media inquiries, and managing any issues that may arise. Additionally, you will be instrumental in developing Standard Procedures and Practices for our organization's response to issues, including internal and external communications. This will involve collaborating with stakeholders across the organization to gather information and create a comprehensive plan.


Responsibilities:

  • Assist in developing Standard Procedures and Practices for issue response
  • Contribute to building Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion plans
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to gather information and create a comprehensive communications plan
  • Lead Media Relations efforts and effectively manage media inquiries
  • Handle crisis communications and respond to any issues that may arise
  • Draft responses for escalated social media inquiries


Requirements:

  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications plans
  • Proficiency in managing stakeholder communications
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • A proactive and collaborative approach to working with cross-functional teams
  • Demonstrated experience in crisis communications and issues management
  • 10+ years of experience in Media Relations or Public Relations
  • Experience in the Public Sector is essential
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and the ability to respond quickly to evolving situations
