About Aspire Services
Aspire Community & Developmental Services has a mission to empower neurodivergent young people to gain independence, connect with their community and rise to their fullest potential. We support youth and young adults with building and developing various life skills as they begin or continue their transition to adulthood.
About the Role:
As part of the Aspire Services team, the Life Skills & Community Support Coach will help empower neurodivergent young people to build independence and gain confidence through developing various life skills. This position will help support people in the community, in employment settings, in group settings and through various social activities.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Develop and maintain positive relationships with clients, their families, community partners, employers, volunteers and other members of the community
Support neurodivergent youth and young adults to be as independent as possible
Help connect young people to the community & build independence through various social activities, independent living skills, employment skills and community safety and transportation skills
Be a positive and encouraging role model and mentor to those you are supporting
Teach, support and encourage participants during group programs
Develop and maintain positive connections with community agencies, members, employers and partners
Prepare program & teaching materials as needed
Other duties as assigned
Flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Qualifications, Education & Experience:
A college diploma or a university degree in a human services field
Experience working with people with varying abilities
Ability to connect and develop relationships with youth and young adults
Willingness to travel throughout community, valid G driver’s license and reliable transportation considered an asset
Demonstrates a passion for empowering young people to grow, learn and build confidence
Committed to providing a positive, encouraging and supportive environment for all clients
Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel
Ability to work across a variety of environments (community, family home, employment setting, etc)
Knowledge of community resources and supports
Creative, strong problem solving skills, organized, positive attitude, good interpersonal & communication skills
Valid certificate in First Aid, CPR, and NVCI
