Job Description

We are seeking a talented and motivated SEO Coordinator to join our Digital Media team at Innocean, where you will work on some of Canada's largest automotive accounts. If you’re passionate about search engine optimization and would love the opportunity to apply your skills in a collaborative 360 environment, we want to hear from you. We believe organic, direct, and paid traffic provide intelligence way beyond impressions, views, clicks, and conversions. We’re looking to grow our in-house SEO team to collaborate with our entire group of Media Planners, Media Buyers, Creatives, SEM, SMM, Programmatic Traders, and Data Analysts to drive exceptional results.


We are searching for an analytical and detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills, capable of working with cross-functional teams to achieve our digital marketing goals. Reporting to the Associate Director, SEO, you will be responsible for implementing SEO strategies, monitoring performance, and ensuring current SEO best practices and techniques are adhered to.


Key Accountabilities:

Search Engine Optimization Recommendations

  • Optimize assets, including maintaining Google My Business listings and implementing SEO updates for new product launches
  • Conduct keyword research & mapping to guide content teams, including content gap recommendations
  • Optimize website content and landing pages
  • Assist with off-page optimization projects (e.g. link-building)


Technical SEO

  • Collaborate with web development teams to address technical SEO issues, including site speed optimization, mobile-friendliness, and structured data implementation
  • Support website audits for SEO best practice compliance
  • Identify and review technical SEO issues, providing recommendations for fixes


Ongoing Reporting

  • Collect and analyze data on traffic, rankings, and other SEO metrics
  • Monitor redirects, click rate, bounce rate, and other KPIs
  • Prepare reports regularly, ensuring the data is integrated with overall Digital Performance reporting


Cross-Team Collaboration

  • Share website, keyword, and content recommendations with paid media teams
  • Collaborate with web dev, content, design, social media, paid media, and account service to help optimize content and performance


Industry Knowledge

  • Suggest improvements in process and productivity optimization
  • Remain up to date with the latest trends and best practices in SEO and digital marketing


Skills and Behaviours:

  • Content optimization skills, including keyword integration
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Familiarity with relevant tools (e.g. Screaming Frog, SEMrush, Ahrefs) and web analytics tools (e.g. Google Analytics, Google Search Console)
  • Knowledge of standard and current SEO best practices
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with integrated SEO reporting and a general knowledge of research principles and methods and experience in analyzing data
  • Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Detail-oriented with exceptional organizational skills


Education and Experience:

  • 1-2 years of SEO experience (preferably in an agency setting)
  • Knowledge of the media industry and how advertising agencies operate is an asset
  • Experience in the Auto industry is a bonus, but the right attitude is more important; extensive training will be provided
  • University or College degree
