Class 1 Driver/Labourer Jobs

Forbes Bros. Ltd. is currently seeking a Class 1 Driver/Labourer (full-time, permanent) to join our growing team based out of Vernon, BC. Specializing in shallow utility construction in the lower mainland, the team continues to see significant growth in the Okanagan region.

The Class 1 Driver/Labourer will be responsible for transporting designated equipment and machines as scheduled to various project sites in an efficient manner. The Class 1 Driver/Labourer will adhere to all applicable safety protocols and procedures during all operations and assist crews members with routine tasks when driving activity is not scheduled.

Key Responsibilities

• Adhere to safety protocols and policies as outlined
• Ensure cleanliness of sites by routinely removing garbage and other debris
• Take scheduled delivery instructions from supervisors and dispatch/execute knowing the pit and yard locations
• Lives Forbes Bros. value of WE WORK SAFE & never compromising on safety in all aspects of our every day
• Proficiently drive and operate assigned vehicle(s), with trailer when required
• Complete pre-trips and preventative maintenance as required
• Perform other tasks related to this function as assigned
• Effectively chain up and chain down equipment for transportation as required based on weather conditions
• Loading and unloading equipment from transportation trailer, and spot when required
• Provide labor support in various functions as required by project when no driving activity is scheduled
• Complete all required paperwork daily

What We Are Looking For

• Physically fit and able to perform manual labor in varying weather conditions and environments, inclusive of heavy lifting
• Employment is contingent upon the successful completion of Pre-Access D&A testing, presenting a valid Class 1 Driver's License (with airbrake endorsement) and an acceptable five (5) year drivers abstract
• Minimum one (1) year of driving experience, is required
• Ability to recognize site hazards and implement hierarchy of controls to eliminate hazards with crew members
• Class 1 Drivers License with air brakes, is required
• Ability to work in field/site with travel and work hour flexibility to accommodate to remote/site work schedules
• Driving experience in the construction industry or civil construction, an asset
