Class 1 Driver (Lowbed)

For buildings, underground utilities and earthworks projects in Northern BC

IDL Projects Inc., northern British Columbia’s largest general contractor, seeks a skilled and experienced Lowbed Class 1 Driver to join our team. As a Class 1 Driver, you will be crucial in safely and efficiently transporting heavy equipment and machinery to various job sites.

Responsibilities

• Complete necessary paperwork, including trip reports, logs, and maintenance records.
• Safely and efficiently operate low-bed trailers to transport heavy equipment, machinery, and vehicles to and from job sites.
• Communicate effectively with dispatchers, site managers, and other team members to coordinate pickups, deliveries, and any changes to the schedule.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the low bed trailer, ensuring it is in optimal working condition.
• Ensure compliance with all traffic regulations and company safety policies.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures at all times.
• Secure loads using appropriate chains, straps, and other equipment to ensure safe transportation.
• Plan routes to minimize travel time and maximize efficiency.
• Perform basic maintenance and inspections on the low bed trailer, such as checking tire pressure, fluid levels, and lights.
• May perform other related duties as required

Qualifications

• Familiar with construction terms and practices
• Effective verbal and listening communication skills
• Availability to work flexible hours, including weekends and overtime
• Ability to understand and effectively execute verbal and written directions
• Strong understanding of load securement techniques and safety procedures.
• Adheres to company Health, Safety, & Environmental reporting and standard assessments
• Ability to operate lowbed trailers with precision and confidence.
• Valid Class 1 driver's license with a clean driving record.
• Extensive knowledge of transportation regulations and best practices
• Experience in a construction environment or in a similar role
• 3+ years’ of professional driving experience, with a focus on lowbed trailer operation.
