About our client:


Our Client operates in the Manufacturing Industry, with its headquarters rooted strongly in India. It provides employment to more than 5,000 people in the country. Their core business is to provide innovative solutions for the infrastructure industry. Their main focus is to help create positive and sustainable change in the world.


Location:


  • Based on site in Granby (near Montreal) and covering two manufacturing facilities producing plastic piping systems (utilising extrustion and injection molding technologies)


Position Overview:


  • As a CI/Process Engineer specialising in the manufacture of products from polymers, you will be responsible for analysing production and customer data to establish route cause analysis and corrective actions. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Procurement, Manufacturing, Sales, Quality Control, and Maintenance to ensure efficient and cost-effective production while maintaining the highest quality standards.


Responsibilities:


  • Develop and implement continuous improvement strategies to enhance production processes, reduce waste, increase efficiency, and improve product quality.
  • Participate in troubleshooting and root cause analysis of process-related issues, proposing and implementing appropriate solutions.
  • Perform process audits and root cause analysis to identify opportunities for process improvement and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), batch records, and work instructions.
  • Work with material suppliers and equipment suppliers to evaluate technologies and equipment for process optimization and efficiency enhancement.
  • Collaborate with quality control teams to establish and maintain process controls, including statistical process control (SPC) methodologies.
  • Conduct process optimization studies to enhance yields, reduce cycle times, minimize waste, and improve product quality.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory standards, such as safety guidelines, environmental regulations, and quality management systems.
  • Monitor and analyze process data, identify trends, and implement corrective actions to maintain process stability and control.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including production, quality, maintenance, and sales, to drive process improvements and resolve technical issues.


Requirements:


Qualifications:


  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or a related field.


Experience:


  • Knowledge of regulatory standards and industry best practices and safety protocols related to polymer manufacturing, such as ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collect and analyze data to drive data-driven decision-making.
  • Experience with Lean Six Sigma methodologies and tools, such as DMAIC, process mapping, root cause analysis, and statistical process control (SPC).
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with diverse stakeholders and present complex information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Strong project management and leadership skills, with the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in process modeling and simulation software (e.g., Aspen Plus, COMSOL) and statistical analysis tools.
  • Proven experience in process engineering within the polymer industry, including knowledge of polymerization, compounding, extrusion, and molding processes.
