Who are we:

The Child Mental Health Centre publicly funded and operated by the province of Ontarioprovides trauma-informed and highly specialized assessment, treatment, and targeted intervention services for children and youth with complex combinations of special needs, including developmental disabilities, autism, and severe behavioural, emotional, and mental health challenges. We offer unique expertise, specialized services and a broad scope of outpatient and inpatient programs. This was the first and only organization in Canada to be certified in the Sanctuary® Model, a trauma-informed treatment and organizational cultural change model. The facility is committed to research, developing evidence-based programs, educational support, capacity-building elements, and service delivery expertise. We employ clinicians and staff who provide interdisciplinary assessment, consultation, treatment, education, and research. Communities and hospitals across Ontario refer patients to the Centre. Various regulated health professionals support the interdisciplinary teams

Position Summary:

We are seeking Psychologists to join our teams of health care professionals to provide psychological services. Our Psychologists provide leadership and oversight of various disabilities, autism, and severe behavioural, emotional, and mental health challenges. Working at the Centre offers a unique opportunity in the child and youth care sector in Ontario to deliver services to this challenging and exciting population of clients.Psychologists at the Centre usually work within an area of primary focus (e.g., inpatient or outpatient; mental health or neurodevelopmental concerns), though job assignments can be flexible to ensure adequate breadth of practice.


Psychologist has the opportunity to engage in a wide range of experience including;



  • Opportunities to work with specialized populations and complex clinical presentations, which expand knowledge and expertise.
  • Working at the Centre offers a unique opportunity in the child and youth care sector in Ontario to deliver services to this challenging and exciting population of clients.
  • The Centre is a founding partner for the London Clinical Psychology Residency Consortium and as a result, Psychologists have the opportunity to supervise Psychology Residents through the Consortium.
  • Traditional face-to-face standardized assessments with children and youth
  • Individual and group therapies that involve modifications (e.g., CBT with Intellectual Disability) or target specific concerns (e.g., Tic Management).
  • Work closely with community stakeholders to foster change and implement recommendations.
  • Assessment and intervention within the context of a short-term inpatient service model (along with Allied Health disciplines and Psychiatry).
  • Interdisciplinary assessment for complex clinical questions.
  • Working with others (Team-Based Practice) is a priority, which can include multi- or inter-disciplinary collaboration and consultation.
  • A wide range of available assessment tools and batteries; ability to order additional measures when needed. These include both traditional and tablet-based (i.e., Q-Interactive) materials.
  • Professional-to-Professional collaboration through a consultation model with community agencies and service providers.
  • Employment involves a variety of clinical experiences that are responsive to clinical needs, community requests, and best practices. These can represent a wide range of activities, including:
  • Large catchment area as the Centre provides services across the province of Ontario.

How do I qualify?


Mandatory

  • You are currently registered in good standing as a Psychologist in Ontario (or will be eligible for registration, either for autonomous or supervised practice, within the next 12 months)



Specialized Knowledge and Experience

  • You have knowledge and experience in providing counselling, training and educational programming to groups of children and parents in the management of complex behavioural problems.
  • You have knowledge and experience in providing treatment, assessment, and diagnosis services to children with complex behavioural and emotional difficulties, and their families


Other Essential Skills

  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills to prepare clinical reports, compile research findings and communicate effectively with community agencies and professionals
  • You have clinical consultation skills to co-ordinate and interact effectively with various community agencies and professionals
  • You have analytical and organizational skills to plan, organize, supervise and carry out research and evaluation studies
