Job Description
CEDO / NDT TraineeThe overall duty of this position is to safely use nuclear substances and radiation devices to ensure all nuclear energy activities are in full compliance with the applicable provisions of the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regulatory requirements.


MUST be local to Slave Lake, Alberta.


Essential Job Functions


  • Sign in/out and calibrate all equipment and dosimeter devices as required.
  • Assists the Radiographic Technician in work execution and daily tasks assigned as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Properly stores all nuclear substances and radiation sources not currently in use.
  • Reports any conditions that may lead to or cause a violation of a regulatory requirement, license condition or unnecessary exposure to personnel.
  • Prepares and completes all necessary paperwork required in compliance with client, industry and company standards and policies.
  • Prepares daily logs and reports as required.
  • Operates exposure devices in compliance with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission regulatory requirements.

  • Ability to read technical documents and procedures and apply them in the field.
  • Ability to operate radiographic equipment.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Fundamental understanding of industry codes, regulations and practices.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of NDT techniques, services and procedures.
  • Knowledge of radiation safety and operational field requirements regarding radiation safety.
  • Observes test procedures and product compliance to learn internal and industry specifications.
  • Excellent report writing and review skills.


Qualifications


  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license.
  • High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED).
  • Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission, Certified Exposure Device Operator Certification (CEDO).
  • CSTS 20, First Aid, H2S Alive, Fall Protection, and Confined Space tickets required.


Working Conditions


  • Occasional travel may be required.
  • Working conditions may vary between project locations.
  • Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazardous materials in various working environments.
  • Required to work both inside and outside in heat/cold, wet/humid and dry/arid conditions in temperature extremes and inclement weather.
  • Occasionally required to work in noisy/loud working environments.
