Job Description
Seasonal Labourer Accountabilities
  • Perform other duties as assigned
  • Maintain a safe work environment by taking necessary precautions and applying safety procedures in accordance with health and safety legislation and City of Waterloo policies
  • Operate and perform daily checks on vehicles and equipment, including documentation of any issues and daily log documentation
  • Ensure safe and efficient operation, care and maintenance of tools, equipment and vehicles
  • Maintain proper written and/or electronic records of activities as required
  • Communicate and co-operate effectively with others, respecting the values of the corporation, both internally and externally
General Job Requirements
  • Satisfactory Police Record and Judicial Matters Check and Drivers Abstract Check is a condition of hire
  • Willing and able to work in an outdoor environment and actively participate in daily activities in various weather conditions
  • MECP Operator In Training (OIT) certification in Water Distribution or Wastewater Collection would be considered an asset
  • 1-3 years of experience in a related field involving manual physical labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
  • Ability to work efficiently in a team environment and demonstrate leadership skills
  • Motivated, hardworking and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Valid MTO ‘G’ class driver’s license in good standing with driver’s abstract acceptable to the City is required to perform the job; MTO ‘DZ’ class driver’s license would be considered an asset.
  • Strong customer service, time management and communication skills
  • Minimum of Grade 12 Education or equivalent
  • Capable of performing the physical demands of the position, which may include lifting, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling and standing on a regular basis
  • Hands-on experience with the installation and maintenance of wastewater collection systems, water distribution systems, and stormwater systems is considered an asset
