Banking and Transactions Coordinator (Contract till End of December 2023)
Summary:
Reporting to the Manager, Finance Operations, BT Coordinator is responsible for reconciliation of bank accounts for BCAA. This position is also responsible for coordinating Moneris and bank related activities for all BCAA companies, including user and account setup. In addition, BT Coordinator assures the integrity of membership accounts and recommends improvements to financial processes.
Key Responsibilities:
Bank Reconciliation
  • Prepare journal entries to record bank transactions and adjustments
  • Assist the Senior Accountant, Transaction processing in fulfilling her/his job responsibilities and objectives
  • Prepare monthly bank reconciliations for BCAA within the scheduled deadline dates
Accounting
  • Prepare year end stale dated cheque reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly interest accruals and merchant fee allocation for all BCAA companies
  • Assist with Unclaimed Property reporting
  • Ensure all cash reports are closed prior to month end
  • Assist sales locations with various inquiries
Bank and Moneris/Amex related activities
  • Assist in the application and renewal of letter of credit for all BCAA companies
  • Execute bank transfers for all BCAA companies
  • Process stop payment request for BCAA
  • Set up users for Moneris and maintain the user list
  • Set up new merchant accounts
  • Resolves issues with checks, cash flows and credit card data and reports
  • Set up users for CIBC Online and maintain the user list
Integrity of Membership Accounts
  • Verify and coordinate refunds
  • Reviews and resolves suspense accounts
  • Coordinates failed payments
  • Resolves integrity reports
Systems, Processes and Special Projects
  • Provides support to annual and interim Audits
  • Work with Senior Accountant, Transaction Processing on bank related initiatives
  • Other projects as assigned by Manager, Banking and Transaction
  • Work with Business Analyst on various NEAT and other system initiatives
  • System testing
Relationships:
  • Reports to: Manager, Finance Operations
  • External: Bank, Moneris and Amex representatives
  • Other: as required
Qualifications:
Education:
  • Completion of 2 years accounting diploma program or:
  • Completion of introductory Accounting course combined with min. 3 years of related work experience
Experience:
  • 2-3 yrs of accounts reconciliation experience
Other Skills:
  • Demonstrated experience performing high volume bank reconciliations and basic knowledge of cash management process
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
  • Proven strong organizational, time management and project management skills with a demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team environment
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvements
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver excellent customer service at all levels of the organization and with external partners
  • Proven strong detail orientation along with problem solving skills and the ability to function efficiently in a fast paced environment with a positive attitude.
  • Intermediate knowledge of MS Office Suite with advanced knowledge of Excel
  • Proven experience in computerized accounting environment (knowledge of GL module and NEAT system) with a high attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal and communications skills and ability to work under deadlines
  • Proven ability to meet deadlines without compromising accuracy, excellent product quality and attention to detail
