We are currently seeking Assistant Night Bakers for our camp located near Terrace BC. This is not a fly-in/fly-out position, you must be local to Terrace (Stewart, Kitwanga, Hazelton, Smithers Etc.). Start date between 31 July - 04 August 2023.

In this role, MATRIX is seeking experienced assistant night bakers. You are team oriented, motivated, and have acute attention to detail, accuracy, and excellent time management skills. You will play a key role at one of our remote exploration camps by performing all baking and kitchen help tasks in a timely manner. This position reports to the Camp Manager.

Responsibilities:

• Support and assist with coaching and training to other kitchen staff attendants
• Practice the “first in first out” rotation procedures to support food inventory control.
• Report all incidents and accidents immediately
• Assist buffet breakfast with “daily special” and eggs to order
• Performs tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures
• Assist baked goods and desserts from scratch (cookies, square pies etc.)
• Execute safe food storage and labeling of potential food allergy items.
• Assist baking a variety of bread and buns from scratch
• Support Night Baker with input on Breakfast Specials, assisting with menu
• Participate in daily toolbox meetings.
• Support monthly worksite inspections as it relates to the kitchen facilities
• Participate in a Food Safety Plan using advanced HACCP recording methods.
• Notify Night Baker of unsafe practices and unsafe environment
• Practice good housekeeping in the work area at all times
• Actively participate as a high performing, team member

Required Knowledge & Experience

• Ability to work a rotation schedule
• Ability to lift and move a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Highly motivated, team-oriented individual
• Ability to work and maintain a high level of performance during a 10 - 12 hour shift
• Comfortable working alone at night
• Minimum of one (1) year working in a similar baking/catering high volume position
• Basic computer skills
• Solid verbal and written communication skills in English
• Organizational and problem-solving abilities.

Preferred Licensing & Certifications:

• Standard / Level 1 First Aid with CPR & AED (16hr course)
• Previous experience working in remote camp setting
• Culinary Diploma or Red Seal designation
• WHMIS
• Safe Food Handling Certificate within the last 5yrs
