Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to join our team as On-site Assistant Director of Engineering. The Assistant Director of Engineering will be responsible for assisting the Director of Engineering in overseeing the day-to-day operations of the Engineering Department. This role requires strong technical knowledge, leadership abilities, and a passion for delivering exceptional guest experiences.

What You Will Be Doing


Reporting to the Director of Engineering, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:


  • Support the Director of Engineering in overseeing capital projects, renovations, and equipment upgrades, ensuring timely completion and quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and regulatory standards, and actively promote a safe working environment for all engineering staff.
  • Assist in managing the department's budget, including forecasting, monitoring expenses, and ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Assist the Director of Engineering in managing all aspects of the Engineering Department, including planning, organizing, and directing maintenance projects and related activities within the hotel.
  • Foster a culture of teamwork and continuous improvement within the Engineering Department, promoting employee development and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Engineering to develop and implement preventive maintenance programs and ensure adherence to established engineering standards.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new technologies, and best practices in engineering and facilities management.
  • Required to participate in an on-call duty rotation, ensuring prompt response and resolution to technical issues outside of regular working hours.
  • Collaborate with other departments, such as Housekeeping and Food and Beverage, to coordinate maintenance activities and ensure seamless operations.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to the engineering team in troubleshooting and resolving complex maintenance and repair issues.
  • Represent the Engineering Department in meetings, committees, and events as required.


Qualifications


Your experience and skills include:


  • Proven experience in a leadership role within the engineering or facilities management field in a luxury hotel or resort setting an asset
  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Proficiency in computer systems and software relevant to engineering operations.
  • Experience with executing preventive maintenance programs and developing and implementing such programs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field is preferred. Equivalent work experience will also be considered.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and standards related to engineering and facilities management.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel as required.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong technical knowledge and understanding of mechanical systems, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex maintenance issues effectively.
