General Dynamics Mission Systems-Canada was awarded a contract by the Boeing Company for the Medium/Heavy Lift Helicopter (MHLH) program. This is a long term support contract for the maintenance and support of the Maintenance Training Suite (MTS) for the Department of National Defence. (DND)

 

The MHLH MTS Team conducts daily maintenance operations on the MTS; this includes classrooms, training system, training aids and interactive display system. They carry out detailed maintenance tasks and support training requirements as defined by DND course configurations. The team will conduct integration activities as new MTS build baselines are made available. 

 

This position is based on-site at Garrison Petawawa where the Chinook Maintenance Training Suite is located. If you were in the role today, here are some tasks you would be working on:

  • Work in tool crib and preposition tools and consumables to enable DND training
  • Maintain daily logs across multiple environments to capture maintenance tasks
  • Be available for on call periods during off hour’s usage of MTS
  • Ensure maintenance activities comply with both internal and external guidelines
  • Perform daily start up and shutdown activities for all MTS equipment
  • Participate in team reviews to ensure maintenance requirements are met
  • Perform all scheduled maintenance on MTS

 

Required Experience:

  • Team player but also the ability to work autonomously 
  • Up to 10% travel required.
  • Must be available for day/night shift rotation 
  • Some supply chain experience would be an asset (tool crib responsibilities)
  • Excellent communication abilities
  • Knowledge of any of  fall safety/confined space/first aid and CPR
  • Helicopter maintenance background with recognized diploma from approved aircraft maintenance facility or an equivalent work experience within the defense industry or military preferred
  • Applicants may be required to meet additional security requirements in order to gain access to technical data, classified areas or information that is subject to international regulations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain Canadian Security Clearance and a positive Controlled Goods Assessment. Eligibility to work in Canada either as a Canadian Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Working knowledge of computer use in databases and basic networking would be an asset
  • Working knowledge of aircraft repair and methodologies a definite asset

Education

  • Technician Diploma in Aircraft Maintenance Engineering from recognized maintenance training facility. Or equivalent work experience with 3 to 5 years industry experience in either military or aviation environment
