Child Care Now is seeking an Advocacy & Outreach Coordinator to support in the coordination and implementation of Child Care Now’s new project: “Quality Early Childhood Education through Policy Change”. The Advocacy and Outreach Coordinator will work closely in collaboration with the Policy Manager, the Executive Director and members of other Child Care Now project teams. Successful candidates will: understand the principles of collaboration and collective action and demonstrate strong skills in communication, coordination and advocacy.


Child Care Now is dedicated to advocating for a publicly funded, inclusive, quality, non-profit child care system. Our organization is non-profit, membership-based and regionally representative. We are supported by a broad membership base of individuals, families, child care programs, regional and pan-Canadian groups and organizations, and are overseen by a voluntary Board of Directors.

General Responsibilities:

  • Create and disseminate communication materials for Symposium, Engagement Sessions, Advocacy Tool-Kit and other events as needed
  • Produce social media content and support in the management of social media accounts and website
  • Support in project administration, including project tracking and travel arrangements
  • Coordinate and facilitate advocacy events and educational sessions for decision-makers and community stakeholders;
  • Assist Policy & Research Manager and Executive Director in research activities and stakeholder management as required


The successful applicant will have the following qualifications and skills:

  • Post-secondary education at college or university in a relevant discipline;
  • Current knowledge of the licensed child care sector in Canada and its governance and operations at all levels of government;
  • Experience communicating, both verbally and digitally, complex policy issues to diverse stakeholder audiences
  • Excellent writing and research skills
  • Proficiency in French language is an asset;
  • Strong computer and digital media skills;
  • Experience in events administration and management;
  • Ability to work independently and within collaborative team environments;


Starting Salary: $65,000 per year, plus comprehensive benefits plan

Hours of work: 35 hours / week, with occasional evening and weekend events.

Duration: This is a contract position until March 31, 2026

Preferred start date: September 4 2023 (negotiable)


Terms of employment: Staff are supervised by the Policy and Project Manager and responsible to a volunteer Board of Directors
